Review of Alice

Buying and Selling on Alice.Com

Ranee Wright
Alice.com offers an eCommerce digital presence for Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) producers to sell directly to the consumer. On the flip-side, it allows consumers to buy from several different CPG manufacturers and shipping is free. Alice's co-founders Brian Wiegand and Mark McGuire have successfully started three other online businesses: Bizfilings.com, NameProtect.com and Jellyfish.com.

Alice not only offers household essentials for purchase, they will organize your products, find coupons and remind you when you may be running low on certain goods. By eliminating the middle man, Alice.com is able to save the consumer money by selling directly to them. It is a platform for manufacturers that personalizes shopping and aims to be convenient and cost-saving.

Clicking on open your free account will prompt Step 1 of your account setup. Alice.com wants to know the age and sex of those in your home. Step 2 asks what home products your family uses. They give you the option to skip this step. The final step to your free account with Alice.com is entering your name, password and demographics. Once in your account, there is a Free Samples tab that notifies you that free samples could be in your next Alice order.

Alice.com allows you to share your Alice info with social media like Twitter, Facebook and MySpace. Alice.com is still fairly new and continues to add fluff to their site with options like the neighborhood chat. Similar to a forum, you can say hi, speak your mind or ask a question.

Buying on Alice.com

Clicking on My Products opens a page with products from you to choose from. After choosing your product a pop-up appears reflecting the number of different products available and the option to find some or 'delete the duck'.

Alice offers the choice of sorting by Price per Unit which I really like. You can also sort by Room or check out the great 'Deals for Me' that do include some great buys. Alice.com includes a "My Budget" tab that will reflect how much you spend on your household essentials, sorted by Room. Alice.com includes consumer reviews of available products.

Selling on Alice.com

Alice has a Wonderland Advertising Center for eCommerce advertisers. I sent an email to suppliers@alice.com inquiring about selling on their site. From what I gather, Alice offers services to sellers that are similar to Ebay Stores. You can create a storefront with customized products and share Alice.com's checkout and fulfillment process. I will keep you updated via comments on my Review of Alice.com.

I had never heard of this site, sounds interesting. I wonder how much they were hoping to ride on teh backs of the new movie because of the name.
