Review: On American Idol April 14 Show, Anoop Desai Delivers Best Performance

This week's theme on American Idol is "Idol Goes To The Movies" and the contestants were asked to choose a song from the cinemas. World-renowned director Quentin Tarantino was the guest mentor. Ryan announced at the beginning of the show that the judges would be critiquing tonight's performances in teams of two, rather than all four judges making comments about each contestant's performance since the show ran over by almost ten minutes last week. Of course, Simon blamed the rambling critiques on Paula and Kara.

Anoop was the second performer of the night and delivered a heartfelt performance of Everything I Do I Do For You by Bryan Adams from the movie "Robin Hood Prince of Thieves". Quentin suggested that Anoop rough it up rather than sing it softly. And, like Quentin suggested, Anoop rocked it out delivered a knock out performance. He performed a classic rock ballad with a gritty sound and at the same time, balanced the tender the notes that he signs so well. Not mention he looked fabulous and there were a lot of screaming girls in the audience after his performance.

Randy said, "Anoop Dog is in the house. That was a huge song. You've found your zone. You rocked the house tonight. Dude, good job." Kara said, "Anoop, you found your place with the pop songs with the added soul. That one was one of your best performances of the season. The changes you made to the melody were the right ones. I felt really connected with you tonight."

The votes are coming in now, and look for Anoop to climb from the bottom three of the past two weeks after delivering one of the best performances of the night. Anoop's growing fan base with carry him through to the next round, for sure.
