Review of American Idol for Tuesday, March 3rd

Leading the pack into tonight's show was Von Smith. He did pretty good, and received good reviews from the judges.Randy even said this performance was better than Hollywood week. Paula said it's hard being the first performance of the night, but his performance will be a memorable first. He reminded Simon of Clay Aiken. Simon was very rude though and said he looked appalling.

Taylor Vaifanua was next and she did a good job and was very emotional at the end. Paula made a good point bringing up the fact that she sang the same song in Hollywood. Simon again had a lot to say using the words "bland" and "genetic" in describing her singing. Here is an observation that I had. Taylor must be tall! She towered over Ryan.

Next was Alex Wagner Trugman. I actually thought he did a really good job on his performance. He can really sing! It might have been a tad over done, but good nonetheless. Paula said he was very entertaining, and as usual, Simon was rude and called his performance stupid.

Arianna Afsar sang an Abba song which was apparently the first Abba song ever sung on American Idol. She had a pretty good performance, but none of the judges agreed.

I wasn't really impressed with Ju'not Joyner's performance, but as the judges like to say, he had some good parts. The judges gave him a good review. Kara said she knows he has ridiculous pipes. He also received a good review from Simon.

Kristen McNamara is someone I have liked since Hollywood. I am glad she has made it this far. I do think her song choice was good and she did a great job singing it. Obviously they would've liked her to have sung a Kelly Clarkson song since they mentioned that several times. Simon said her song choice was odd.

Nathaniel Marshall. Wow, he is something else I will give him that. He admitted to being a drama king. No argument there. His performance reminded me more of Clay Aiken then Von Smith's did. His performance wasn't a bad one, but I don't think it was good enough to make it to the final 12. Simon said it was uncomfortable but that he does like him.

Next was Felicia Barton. As you may remember she replaced Joanna Pacitti. Her performance tonight was definitely one of the best. She sang an Alicia Keys song and she actually kind of looked like her tonight too. I think she has a real chance of making it into the final 12.

This next guy I just love! Scott MacIntyre. I thought he did a fabulous job in Hollywood. He really stood out to me. I would definitely buy his cd and I don't say that about too many people. He received great reviews from all of the judges. Simon was actually not rude to him. Imagine that! He said that Scott was memorable. Ryan called him Scotty the Body.

Kendall Beard was the country girl of the night. She sang a Martina McBride song. I like her, just didn't think her performance was as it could be. Kara said she had some real issues, and I agree. Paula commented on her outfit and Kendall said her Mom put it together. Good job Mom! The judges all agreed that she was true to herself in her song choice.

Jorge Nunez, from Puerto Rico, did an okay job, but I really wasn't too impressed. At least not as impressed as the judges seemed to be. Don't get me wrong, he did okay, and he seems like a nice guy, it just didn't do it for me. I don't see him making it into the top 12, but America could prove me wrong. I did agree with Simon about how it was wrong to ask him to change his accent.

Lil Rounds rounded out the evening. Her performance was one of the top performances of the night. I really like her and can see her going far in this competition. I think she picked a perfect song. Simon said she was brilliant.

All in all a great night on American Idol. My top 3 picks to go into the top 12 are: Lil Rounds, Scott McIntyre and Felicia Barton.
