Review of American Idol's April 21, 2009, Show: Lil Rounds May Have Had Her Last "round" on Idol

This week's show is important for all of the contestants. It's time for them to pull out all of the stops. This show will either make them or break them. Two contestants will be sent home on tomorrow night's show. Their song choice and performance is everything tonight.

American Idol's theme this week is back to the 70's Disco era. Should be a fun and exciting show. The competition is revving up now!

Lil Rounds started off the night singing, "I'm Every Woman". I thought her vocals weren't right on tonight, but I think she really did try her best. She had some good moments. Simon said he thinks it is going to be the last week we are going to see her. He said it was a copycat performance. Randy said it sounded so wild. It didn't show who she is as an artist. He also said she didn't show vocal control. Kara said she is not sure it was worth waiting for. Kara said that Lil has been every woman but herself. Paula said that Lil was hot tonight, but that she didn't quite reach the boiling point.

Kris Allen was up next singing his unique version of , "She Works Hard For The Money". He brought out his guitar again tonight. The song had a cool reggae feel to it. Kris put his own spin on it and definitely made the song his own. Randy said that Kris knows who he is. He is ready for the big time! Kara said he took a risk and it paid off. She said that song could go on his record. Simon said it was original. Thought out. Not karaoke. A fantastic performance. Paula said it was a perfect fit for him. It shows why he is a contender in this contest.

Smokin' Gokey was up next singing an Earth, Wind and Fire song, "September". He came out strong. I felt this was a good song choice for him. It showed off his vocal abilities. I thought he did an awesome job! It made me want to get up and dance! Randy said he worked hard and turned the song into something that really worked for him. Kara said Danny is an incredible vocalist. She also said that one thing Danny doesn't get credit for is his pitch that is always so right on. She said it was another solid performance for Danny. Simon said he agreed with everyone, but that the performance didn't have any star power. He called it awkward and a bit clumsy. (What? Are we watching the same show, Simon?) Paula said he took it up a notch higher. She also said that he has one of the sexiest voices ever. I agree Paula!

Allison sang "Hot Stuff". Started off singing sitting on the stairs. I thought it was a cool way to start. It was a good song for her and she sang it well. Her voice makes it easy to forget she is only 16. Randy said he didn't love the arrangement, and that it sounded a little overindulgent, but he thinks she is one of the best singers. Kara agreed with Randy about the arrangement. She said from a singing stand point it was a 9/10. Paula said Allison brought an edginess and felt she is authentic. She said that Allison was off the charts with the last note. Simon called it a brilliant performance.

Adam came out in his "spiffy" suit and sang, "If I Can't Have You" off the Saturday Night Live Soundtrack. He had a flawless performance. His high notes are so effortless. He puts so much emotion into what he sings. Randy said he is ready right now! He has it majorly going on! Kara said it was brilliant and inspiring. Paula felt his emotion was fascinating and brilliant. Simon called it original and said we are going to remember it. Simon also said his vocals were immaculate.

Matt Giraud, who the judges saved last week, sang, "Staying Alive". I thought it was good song choice for him and thought he did an excellent job. He looked like he was having a good time. Randy said he didn't love the song choice or the arrangement, but he can really sing. Kara said Matt brought disco back! She said it was a solid performance. Simon didn't like the performance. He said that Matt needs to get out of Idol Land and get himself into the real world. He said it came over as desperation with no originality.

Anoop ended the night singing his version, "Dim All The Nights". He did a good performance. Randy said he didn't love the arrangement, but Anoop can sing. He said, "nice, baby nice". Kara said it was a great song choice for him. It sounded like it could be on the radio. Kara said the last two weeks has been Anoop's best performances. Paula said he looked fantastic and said that real men know how to wear pink, (He had on a pink shirt). She said he has beautiful vocals. Simon said it was mediocre and a horrible version. Simon called it Anoops worst performance by a mile.

Stay tuned tomorrow night to see who gets sent home. My money is on Lil and Matt. We shall see!
