Review of American Standard Single Control Kitchen Faucet

Angel
I have been needing a new faucet for my kitchen for about 3 months now. Because it's such pain on my neck, and back I have put off purchasing one. Well while I was in the Home Depot last month I purchased a faucet, one I didn't put too much faith in. After all, how can a sink be guaranteed for life I thought.

American Standard faucets aren't cheaply priced, but then again they aren't made with plastic, and that means they are built to last. American Standard has been around for 100 years with fine quality products. Therefore, I wasn't really afraid to purchase it.

I like my kitchen faucets to be to be single control, by that I mean one lever to turn it on, and to turn it off. Duel knobs are a waste of time, and hard to do while preparing dinner in the kitchen. A duel lever also adds germs to the handles when you are dealing with chicken. A single control faucet, you can turn it on and off with your side arms instead of your hands, if your hands are covered in chicken juice.

After getting the American Standard single control faucet home, I still let it set until I was really ready to install it. I opened up the box and looked over the directions, and discovered that they even have a hot line for help with a toll free number open weekdays from 8 am to 8 pm EST, in the USA and a number for Canada, and Mexico. This really impressed me, as I've never seen it before in anything for installing in a house such as a faucet.

I'm also impressed that the instructions have a service section. An example of this is if the faucet drips. It shows you how to take it apart and clean the cartridge.

The step-by-step directions, and recommended tools made the job go a lot quicker then I had expected.

The only plastic on the American Standard faucet was under the unit to suction to the porcelain to avoid any leaking, and once I tightened the underneath nuts it felt very secure. I was very pleased with the finished result. American Standard faucet is strong and rust free, unlike most sinks. Most other faucets have open steal bits where the water can flow through, or under creating mold, and rust. I'm very pleased there isn't an area to grow mold.

The other part of the faucet I'm very pleased with is the sprayer unit. I've gone through about four faucets, and each and every unit, the sprayer doesn't work. The only reason why I think it doesn't work well, is because the way the nut connects to the hose. In this American Standard faucet model, the sprayer nut on the pipe connects directly to the sink's nut, giving the spray full force spray. Now I can wash my hair in the kitchen sink without having to bend over so far to get my head under my faucet. When I used American Standard faucet sprayer for the first time I was flabbergasted, the sprayer was so strong I got wet from the bounce off the pan!

I rate American Standard faucets 10 out of 10 stars. If I can install it, you can too!

I'm not impressed with the American Standard kitchen faucet. When I bought mine (3 years ago at the Home Depot) and installed it, I noticed that the faucet didn't turn off when the sprayer was in use. Supidly, I thought that was "normal" for that model.
Recently I had to replace the leaking O-rings in the faucet. I decided to order a new "diverter" valve to see if that was the problem with the sprayer. When I removed the old one, I noticed that it was broken internally. After replacing the diverter, my sprayer/faucet worked perfectly. One week later, however, the new diverter valve malfunctioned AGAIN!
