Preparing Amy's Organic Burritos
There are two ways to heat up these organic burritos: in the microwave or in a conventional oven.
Microwave Oven
After removing the it from its plastic store packaging, wrap the burrito inside a paper towel. Place the burrito into your microwave oven for about 1-1/2 minutes cooking on high. After this cooking period, flip over the burrito and let it cook 1 to 1-1/2 minutes, ensuring the burrito is fully hot before eating it.
Conventional Oven
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees; meanwhile, wrap your burrito in tin foil. Once the oven has been preheated, place the burrito into the oven and let it cook for 50 to 55 minutes.
Amy's Organic Burritos Taste Great!
I must say, I was hoping for the price that I wouldn't be disappointed. I can buy a Patio or Jose Ole burrito for about 75 cents. Obviously, I'm paying for the organic ingredients in Amy's organic burritos but, still, I was hoping that it would taste decent, too.
Was I ever impressed! The flavor in Amy's cheddar organic burrito topped anything I've had for frozen burritos before.
First, I was shocked at the lack of grease on the plate. This actually looked like a "clean" burrito. Unlike the other frozen burritos I'm accustomed to eating, this didn't taste processed, either.
One big difference this Amy's organic burrito has over the other burritos I've eaten is that this features a whole wheat tortilla. The cheddar cheese in this? Actual cheese - both cheddar and Monterey Jack. In this burrito is organic brown rice and a host of organic produce and spices to round out the flavor.
Nutritional Value
Overall, you come out a winner choosing Amy's organic burritos over the typical, run-of-the-mill frozen burritos that proliferate in the grocer's frozen aisle. The only area where Amy's is comparable to other burritos is in sodium. There are 580 milligrams of sodium in Amy's cheddar organic burrito; I've seen similar sodium number in other frozen burritos.
However, in what other burritos will you find a whopping 7 grams of dietary fiber? I was amazed that I ate 28 percent of my recommended daily requirement of dietary fiber in just one of these cheddar burritos from Amy's.
Amy's touts that its burritos contain no bioengineered ingredients. While I don't often think to consider how many things I usually eat have bioengineered ingredients, I'm glad Amy's organic burritos contain none... I'll probably be more careful about avoiding bioengineered products in the future.

Post a CommentJust tried Amy's Light in Sodium Burrito Cheddar Cheese and thought it was horrible! Absolutely no taste and the texture is less desirable. And on top of it it is not all that healthy, still 13% staurated fat and12% sodium in spite of being light in sodium. Makes me wonder if Amy's other burritos, the ones not light in sodium, are so full of salt to make them tastier.
