Review of Applebee's Neighborhood Bar and Grill in the Greenwood Park Mall
A Great Dining Experience in a Smaller Applebee's
The décor of this Applebee's is typical of all the restaurants in this large, nationwide chain. This particular Applebee's, however, was smaller than the stand alone stores. It still had a bar in the center and the obligatory wide screen TV's scattered about. There were not as many tables as you usually see in an Applebee's. The facility was very clean as is usually the case with this chain.
We arrived at the Applebee's around 1:30, and we were immediately seated. My wife ordered the soup and salad lunch special. She had tomato bisque soup, complimented by the Asian chicken salad. As she is a vegetarian, she of course opted to have the chef omit the chicken form her salad. It was refreshing to have her special order taken without any hesitation on the part of our waiter.
I found a new item on the menu: the Cowboy Burger with fries as a side dish. This burger comes with all the trimmings on the side, lettuce, tomato, sweet onions and pickles. This large burger is topped with bacon and crispy fried onions. This sandwich was huge, and I cut it in half in order to handle it, and to keep the trimmings from making a mess on my shirt!
We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The portion sizes were very generous. The quality of the food at this Applebee's is indeed excellent. We both were completely satisfied and had to pass on any dessert item.
We usually order water with our meals, and today was no exception. Besides not needing the extra calories of soda, ordering water usually results in a savings of at least three or four dollars. Our total bill with tax was only $16.18, a very reasonable price for a luncheon for two.
I would most assuredly recommend the Greenwood Park Mall Applebee's for a quiet, quality meal during your Christmas shopping trip. By the way, Applebee's currently has a Holiday special offering a $10 bonus card when you purchase a $50 Applebee's gift card. Thus you can even do a little gift shopping at Applebee's as well.
