Review Archstone Studio City Apartments

Owlie
Archstone Studio City (91604, CA) is a great place to live in. I have lived here over 1 year and have experienced living both in studio and 2 bedroom apartments. The studio was rather pricey for its size ($1300), so I transfered my lease to a 2 bedroom instead. You definitely get more bang for my buck, sharing a 2 bedroom with someone. Lucky for me, I found a roommate on Craigslist, and we now split the $1900 rent. We each have our own bedrooms and bathrooms and share a kitchen and living room. We also have a patio and access to a laundry room, which uses refillable electronic cards for payment (No more quarters!). Each floor of the 4 levels in each of the 6 buildings has a laundry room. Each building has an elevator. Pets are allowed, but there's pet rent to pay, which I think is silly.

The Archstone customer service could use improvement. I was made to wait in the leasing office two out of the three times I was there, even if I already had an appointment. They were also dismissive, as if my business wasn't that important to them. The first time I signed a lease, they also made a mistake by putting down the wrong apartment number, which made it seem like I had to pay less than I actually did. That aside, their resident services are OK. They hold packages for residents and have a dry-cleaning service paired up with a nearby company. I haven't actually tried it, but it's nice to know there is an option. They also recently started promoting classes taught for free by tenants for other tenants, like fitness training, dog walking, and sushi making. Their maintenance response is pretty good, and you can place a work order in online in your MyArchstone portal. You can also pay your monthly rent automatically online and place ads on their Marketplace if you are looking to sell furniture.

Some of the pluses of living here include access to the following: business center, swimming pool, 24-hour gym (with TV's for each machine), sauna, half basketball court, and racketball court. The complex is across the street from Ralph's, Rite Aid, Jamba Juice, Starbucks, ToGo's, Baskin Robbins, and a pretty decent Chinese restaurant called China Wok.

Overall, Archstone is a nice place to live in. It is also close to Ventura Blvd, which has awesome restaurants. It is also about 10 minutes away from the Sherman Oaks Galleria, which has an Arclight movie theatre. Burbank is about 15 minutes away by car. Universal Studios is just 5 minutes away. Another plus is that Archstone is on Vineland, which is close to the major freeway entrances: the 101, 170 and 134. Did I mention that Trader Joe's is just a 5 minute drive away? The longer I live here, the more awesome places I find.
