Review: Aroma 4 Qt. Traditional Ice Cream Maker

With summer quickly approaching, you and your family will probably be eating lots of ice cream for a cold, tasty treat. Home-made ice cream is so much fresher and more flavorful than anything that can be bought in a store that I believe it is work the time and effort to make it yourself. Making ice cream can be turned into a fun activity that can be done with the entire family. If you are looking to purchase an ice cream maker, the Aroma 4 qt. Traditional Ice Cream Maker from Target is a great choice. It is affordably priced at $60 and will pay for itself as it makes you ice cream for years to come.

The ice cream maker is very easy to use. It comes with both a hand crank and a power motor so you can use it whichever way you choose. Kids love to crank it by hand but when they tire out it's nice to be able to turn the motor on to finish up the work. It takes about 45 minutes for the ice cream to fully thicken so it is always nice to have the motor as a back up. We have used it on the beach a few times and everyone takes turns cranking for a little while. This way we can have ice cream that tastes better and is cheaper than what we could get at the beach.

The outside is made of solid pine so it is an attractive addition to your kitchen. The inside is an aluminum canister which is removable from the wooden part. I really like that it is removable because it makes everything very easy to clean. I take the aluminum part out to serve and store the ice cream then simply throw it in the dishwasher and put it back in ice cream maker. I was afraid I would have trouble cleaning a machine like this but it is really very simple. All of the electric parts are in the outside that never touches the ice cream so you do not need to be careful when washing the washable parts.

I really like this product because it allows us to invent our own flavors. There is an instruction booklet with recipes in it but once you know what you are doing you can go ahead and start to experiment. You can make all kinds of tasty flavors that you can't find in the store. This is a great product for people who eat lots of ice cream and want to get a little more creative with it.
