Review of AT&T Go Phone Non-Contract Cell Phone Service

L. Vincent Poupard
There are many people that have taken a look at the AT&T Go Phone as a way to fill in their need for a cell phone. While there are many advantages that you will be exposed to when you choose the AT&T Go Phone, there are also a considerable amount of disadvantages.

The AT&T Go Phone has access to the largest network that any non-contract phone has in the United States. Unlike most non-contract phone, the AT&T Go Phone has access to the entire AT&T network.

This makes it the most versatile non-contract phone when it comes to traveling. Not only do you have coverage all over the United States, your AT&T Go Phone will have service in any country that has AT&T towers. There is a small fee that is charged when traveling to other countries, but it is minimal when compared to having to buy and activate a phone in another country.

There are two plans that you subscribe to on a monthly basis with your AT&T Go Phone. One will charge you a flat rate of $0.25 a minute for usage. This is one of the highest rates that you can pay with any of the non-contract phones. Many will only charge you a mere $0.10 a minute.

The other plan charges you a dollar each day that you use the phone. You are then charged $0.10 a minute, but all of your calls to AT&T customers are free. This plan is best if most of the people that you call on a regular basis are AT&T members.

The phones that you can buy for AT&T Go Phone service are really not worth the money that you pay for them. Most of them are phones that were not sold to contract customers at full price. Some of these phones can be a few years old before you even take them out of the box.

Many of the AT&T Go Phones have a flimsy feel to them. One of the prime examples is the new Razr phone that they have available. While the Razr is one of the highest selling phones of all time, it is also the cheapest when it comes to how it is made, and the quality.

AT&T is one of the only companies that does not give free minutes with their non-contract phones. This means that you will not be able to use your AT&T Go Phone right out of the box. You will have to buy minutes with it. Watch as other customers have at least 15 to 20 minutes with the non-contract phones that they are buying.

All-in-all, I would only suggest purchasing an AT&T Go Phone if you are going to do a lot of traveling to areas where your phone will not work. Other then that, I might suggest it if you plan on making long regular conversations with people that have AT&T service. Other then that, there are other non-contract companies that you should go with other then AT&T.
