Review: BabyFM Fetal Doppler - Hear You Baby's Heartbeat Whenever You Want

Shari Ryan of One27 Studios
Many mothers love to have the comfort of hearing their unborn child's heartbeat. While every mother has the opportunity to hear their baby's heart beat every month at their prenatal appointment, there are many days in between those appointments where mom's long to hear their little one's heart beat. Hearing the heartbeat can offer a sense of bonding and comfort to any mother.

The BabyFM Fetal Doppler has been named the internet's #1 Fetal Doppler Source because of their ratings of reliability and accuracy. These monitors are said to be as accurate as the fetal monitors the doctors' offices have.

There are four different monitors to choose from:

The Model DRS which costs $699.00 or $1.85 to rent per day. This particular unit offers an audio cable which can be used to transfer your sessions to your computer, so you can burn it to a CD for everyone to hear.

The model DS is $619.00 to buy and $1.65 a day to rent. This monitor doesn't have any recording capabilities like the DRS., but it does have a large display screen which shows the beats per minute. This feature is the only feature that many moms care about.

The Model RS is $529.00 to buy and $1.00 a day to rent. This device can record your baby's heartbeat and can be saved and replayed, but it cannot be transferred to any other listening device. There is no display screen on this fetal monitor, so you won't be able to get a count of beats per minute. However, if you are just looking for the beautiful sound of your baby's heartbeat, then this would be a great device.

The model S which is the most affordable device is only $479.00 to buy and $0.85 a day to rent. You cannot record your baby's heartbeat on this device and it does not have a display screen, but if you have a stop watch, you can calculate or baby's heartbeat yourself and save quite a bit of money. It's the most economical choice if you are looking to just listen to your baby's heartbeat for a sense of comfort.

All of these units have noise reduction which helps cancel noises that are caused when the probe moves across your stomach. This particular unit also has premium sound and a comfort fit probe to give you the most comfortable experience. They all come with 3 AA batteries and are good for around 1,000 one-minute exams. The devices also come with a quick start manual to make your experience flawless and easy.

You can order any of these products on www.babyfm.com or at 800-939-3926. There are live customer service agents available 24/7 for your ordering needs.

They've really come a long way! When I had my son, over 20 years ago, I had to go to the hospital to have regular fetal heartbeat scans. With these, perhaps mobile options would be available that met hospital standards for my condition (eclampsia). Thanks for the info.
