Review: Bado's Pizza Grill and Ale House in Mt. Lebanon, PA

Bado's Pizza Grill and Ale House is a small restaurant located in Mt. Lebanon, PA on Beverly Road near Mt. Lebanon Township Park. Walking into this restaurant, at first you are taken off guard by the small entranceway, however you are greeted by friendly staff and a huge brightly decorated bar that takes up half of the entrance dining room.

The full service bar features over 20 drafts and over 80 bottles of drink specials. There is a cooler towards the back of the main dining room where you can purchase specialty beers and six packs to go. Rounding the corner into the side dining room, there are two rows of comfortable booths in close proximity of each other.

Bado's Pizza Grill and Ale House serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner at mostly reasonable prices. They are mostly popular for their pizzas; however they do serve a variety of appetizers, wings, soups, salads, burgers, hoagies, calzones, chicken, pasta, and fish.

The first time my fiancé and I ate at Bado's Pizza Grill and Ale House we had received two gift certificates. The waiter was very honest and open about pointing out what was great and what wasn't so great to order. You rarely receive that kind of honesty when first coming to a restaurant.

We ordered mozzarella sticks for our appetizer, they were very good, however we weren't too thrilled paying $5 for four mozzarella sticks. We ordered the seafood calzone which was full of shrimp, crabmeat, ricotta, provolone cheese, and garlic sauce. For $16.50 this calzone was fresh and amazing and well worth every penny.

On our second visit to Bado's Pizza Grill and Ale House, we had the same friendly service, and actually tried the meat supreme pizza to actually see if their pizza popularity was as good as the rumors said it was. To my surprise, the meat pizza was loaded with meatballs, sausage, pepperoni, ham, salami, and bacon. Everything was packed full of flavor and you could tell that it was made fresh to order.

This time instead of trying an appetizer, we tried the chocolate cake, and it was extremely rich and chocolaty! Perfect to satisfy the sweet tooth, but so sweet it must be shared.

My fiancé had tried two of their beers on tap; the Anchor Christmas Ale, which was a dark beer full of the Christmassy scents and flavors of nutmeg, cinnamon, and dark fruits. Unique and reasonably priced at $3.50. The second beer he tried was the Great Lakes Christmas Ale, which was also a dark beer that makes you feel warm and fuzzy having a caramel like scent with hints of ginger and cloves. Again, reasonably priced at $3.50.

All and all, Bado's Pizza Grill and Ale House is a great place to go for any meal of the day, just to have a few drinks, or just to hang out and socialize. The atmosphere is comforting, welcoming, and affordable!
