Not sure where to go out in Ann Arbor? This guide should give you an idea of your bar options in Ann Arbor and around the University of Michigan campus.

Leopold Bros.

Leopold Brothers is a laid back, casual bar on the south end of Main Street. It has a graduate student crowd mixed with twenty-something non-students. There is plenty of seating, combined with good micro-brew beers. You can even play your favorite child hood games, like Connect 4 or Yahtzee, which are on hand at the bar.

Rick's

Rick's is more of a meat market type of bar. The attire is more on the dress to impress side (or dress-less to impress) and you'll see plenty of scantily clad sorority girls. There's lots of dancing and not much sitting in this basement bar. I think Playboy ranked Rick's among the top places to find a one-night stand in America. I wouldn't know.

Scorekeeper's

Scorekeeper's is a sports bar by day and a clubby bar by night. Scorekeeper's is generally not too busy and has plenty of seating, except on Thursday nights. On Thursday night, Scorekeeper's becomes packed with college students drinking and dancing. There is a little bit of dancing at Scorekeeper's, but not too much. Scorekeeper's is my favorite place to go if I'm in the mood for a club atmosphere but don't want to take it too far.

Good Time Charley's

Good time Charley's is a pretty laid back bar on South University. People there are generally dressed to impress, but it is a sit down atmosphere with no dancing. Their Long-Island Iced Teas (with many variations) are particularly large and good.

Conor O'Neil's

Generally this is a great Irish restaurant, but becomes more of a bar at night. Conor's gets especially busy on Monday nights at 9 pm for trivia night.

The Necto

The Necto is Ann Arbor's only true club in my mind. It's a very big place with lots of dancing and very little seating. Friday's are gay night.

Millennium Club

Ok, the Millennium Club is Ann Arbor's second club, but I've never seen it very busy there. I don't recommend it, although it's upstairs bar can get very busy and fun on karaoke nights.

Mitch's Place

Oh how I miss the $1 sixty ounce pitchers of Milwaukee's Best on Monday and Wednesday! Mitch's Place closed, but should open again, hopefully soon.

Arbor Brewing Company

ABC has the most and best micro-brews in Ann Arbor.

Aut Bar

I've never been to the Aut Bar, but it's known to be the main gay bar in Ann Arbor.
