Review of the BeBe Sounds Prenatal Heart Listener

Most women love the chance to hear their unborn baby's heartbeat when they go to their doctor's appointments. It can be a beautiful sound that is both soothing and reassuring. Technology has now made it to where products similar to the fetal dopplers that doctors use in their offices can be used at home for them to hear their baby's heartbeat. One such product is the BeBe Sounds Prenatal Heart Listener. Here is a look at that product.

I first bought this product when I was around 20 weeks pregnant with my son. I was looking forward to using it to hear his heartbeat as my pregnancy progressed. You are recommended to lie down or sit down and first start out on your lower stomach to see what sounds you hear. Over the months I used it here is what I found it to be.

There are many positives and negatives about this product. The first positive is of course the chance to hear your baby's heartbeat. As said above in between doctor's appointments this can be very reassuring to the mom to be. The second benefit is it is fairly inexpensive. One can find one of these for under $30 which is a lot less expensive than other fetal dopplers that are used in doctor's offices or even renting one. It is the perfect product for a pregnant women who wants to enjoy their pregnancy and the whole experience.

Negatives about this product are it can be difficult to use. Finding the baby's heartbeat can be very difficult with all of the other noises one may hear. The stomach is a naturally noisy place so distinguishing the heartbeat may be hard for many. Another negative about this product is it picks up outside noises as well. If you live in close quarters it will pick up noises from other rooms including TV's and radios. This can distract one from being able to hear the noises that are coming from their stomach. Some women also begin to depend upon it and may panic if they think they are not picking up their baby's heartbeat on certain days.

In conclusion, this product is most definitely not a medical device and it does not provide one with a guarantee that they will be able to hear their unborn baby. However for those who understand it is just for entertainment purposes it can be a lot of fun especially towards the end of one's pregnancy where they will be able to hear other sounds such as their baby moving around.
