Review of Belden Taverna: The Best Mediterranean Restaurant in San Francisco

Belden Taverna (Formerly Belden Place) Has the Best Mediterranean Menu in the City

Belden Place is one of those places, where it cannot be found so easily. It is located near the Financial District. It is different then most food restaurants because most of the waiters/waitresses are very friendly, and cannot wait to sit you down and take your order. There very enthusiastic and very helpful, with choosing meals. The new owner changed the way the restaurant looks and changed the name to Belden Taverna, but still does not stop featuring, Mediterranean menu. The restaurant is near the Café Bastille and B44, it's a little slow, but with that in mind doesn't stop the mysteries place becoming packed, during lunch hours.

The restaurant has many accommodations, from 20 to 30-person outdoor patio, to even places where smokers have there own place. They even have a bar that is very nicely surrounded by tables for singles. What I really enjoyed when I went down there was the 40-seat dinning room; it is located upstairs and features quite beautiful handcrafted railings with marble filled crystal balls. The ceiling might be a little low for tall ones, but you have the chance to sit outside, so that should not stop you form going there for a quick bite to eat. Taverna's menu is quite appealing starting with goat cheese soufflé to a molten center its superb, for a very exquisite chit chat with your sweetheart.

The menu starts, from medium price which can start from 10$-30, it is not that bad considering the atmosphere. There is many main dishes, the one I chose was the braised short rib with a caramelized cippolini and a parsley butter which came out to be 26$ the price might have been a little to pricey, but when I left the restaurant I just felt satisfied and full. When you go there for lunch, there are not that many choices as there is when you go for dinner. Still, I had a lot of fun, when I went with my sweetheart. The staff, is very helpful, and at times can be a little a little slow to take orders and forget to clean the dishes when people are done eating.

My favorite part about Taverna has to be there desert's, again, the prices can be a little expensive, but having chocolate chip cake, with milk, can be quite pleasing to anyone who enjoys desert. The chocolate chip cake, cost me 8.50 because most of there deserts go at that price, did not bother me for one second, because I felt very satisfied and full. I also, noticed many people order deserts after there dinner, which is quite not the case around Bay Area, because a lot of bay area people try, to look after there weight. I definitely enjoyed the atmosphere of Belden Taverna it's right on target. I would definitely suggest, trying this restaurant out, even though it's hidden in a closed off place, it is still worth trying to look for it, you will not be disappointed, I sure wasn't and neither was my sweetheart.

This was absolutely the worst service I have ever encountered at any restaurant.I waited for 1 hour and 15 minutes for the entree AFTER having finished the appetizer. Two other tables cancelled their orders and demanded their money back. The date I dined there was 12/15/2006.
