Last weekend, my wife, kids and I went to Wal-mart to pick up some groceries. While we were there, we ended up in one of the snack food aisles and, since we don't have a whole lot of junk food in our house, we decided to splurge a bit and pick some up.
One of the things we ended up buying was a package of Berry Burst Ice Cream Flavored Oreo Cookies; mostly because my oldest daughter saw them and decided they would be the perfect dessert for her school lunches. And, since all of us (including our youngest daughter) like Oreos, we decided to give them a try.
I have had plenty of other Oreo varieties in the past and have found most of them are just as good, if not better, than the original. However, when it came to these cookies, I honestly was a bit disappointed by them.
I should start out by mentioning that my oldest daughter does not share my opinion of these cookies. As I mentioned before, she's the one who picked them out and she has had them with her school lunch every day this week without any sort of complaint about them. In fact, she even snacks on them at home on occasion.
However, I personally was not impressed with this particular Oreo variety. As I said, I have had plenty of other varieties and enjoyed them. But, this one just didn't work for me. Part of the reason for that, I think, is the cookies are very sweet. As I have mentioned in other reviews, I'm OK with foods that have a sweet taste but there are plenty out there that are a little too sweet and this particular cookie falls into that category.
In fact, my wife had the exact same opinion about these cookies the first time she tried them; something that isn't usually the case (she has a bigger sweet tooth than I do) and I couldn't help but notice our youngest daughter didn't eat the couple we gave her. She took a couple small bites out of each and stopped eating them each time.
Since my oldest daughter seems to love these, I'm sure there are people out there who will disagree with me about these cookies. But, I know this is a product I have no intention of buying again; unless they are exclusively for my oldest daughter's lunches.
