When we entered the store, nobody greeted us or asked us what we needed. Thankfully the laptops were easy to see from the entrance and we headed right over to the laptops and started looking at all the specs and the prices of the laptops.
Of course, while I was just looking and trying to make a decision, about three different people came up to me and asked what I needed. Only one, Amanda, was helpful. I told her the type of things I wanted and she was at least able to tell me where to find the information on the cards for the laptops that were there.
I finally made a decision and it was very difficult to get anybody to come and help me to get the laptop. It was once again Amanda who attended to me to get somebody that I needed to get the laptop from where it was stored.
He brought it up to the checkout counter and the clerk there said that it would be just a minute and he would check me out. He went into the back and I stood there and waited and waited, but he never came back. I saw Amanda again and I told her what happened. Thankfully she was able to check me out and checked me out and told me everything she has to tell me, though I did not want any of the extras as I know how to install antivirus programs and remove unwanted install packages.
My sister had gotten me a Coke and I realized that I had forgotten to get Amanda to check that out with the laptop, but I just decided to pay for that with some cash I had on hand because Amanda was a good clerk who was just going to let the price of a Coke go and I was not going to make her pay for it out of her paycheck since she was so helpful.
However, I was quite disappointed with the rest of the Best Buy staff as they were not helpful whatsoever. They were quite ignorant of what was needed or wanted. They seemed to go about and ignore the customers.
I did not see them helping customers. This visit was late at night and not during a time when many customers were at the store, so it was quite irritating.
Before I left on my trip to California, I needed a camera battery and they did not know what was needed, either. I had to tell them the information I found out from Circuit City that did not have the battery. They sold me the battery and then I was quite disappointed to find out the battery did not work as when I put it in my camera, it did not work. It would turn on and get stuck. I could not take pictures nor could I turn off the camera without the lens getting stuck out as it is one of those with a lens that expands when it is on and then collapses when it is off. This was not helpful at all.
So, while Best Buy has some of the best products and prices (yes, much better than Circuit City), the customer service there is really bad in general. As I said, it was only Amanda who seemed to be helpful.

Post a CommentThe Best Buy I used to go to in Missouri was great...the ones I have been to in California are cramped and stressful
Just like Best Buy in Knoxville (who also, by the way, tried to stiff me with a $350.00 digital camera that wouldn't even work!). After that so-called customer "service", it'll be a cold day in hell 'fore I ever darken the door of Best Buy! Thanks for the further proof of this!
I've had similar experiences in Florida Best Buys. Hope it's not a trend...
I've only been to Best Buy stores once or twice. The customer service was okay, but I do most of my shopping for electronics and computer items on eBay; it's usually far less expensive.
I like best buy here.
I hope you bring this to the attention of management & Amanda needs some recognition too..so how's the laptop running?
That was a disappointing visit to Best Buy. Nicely written article.
That's a shame. The Best Buy here has very helpful clerks, it was great to finally get the store. Maybe yours will improve if you email this to the manager -- the manager should know how dreadful the clerks were. Good job.
I hope you are sending this article to the store so that the managers can read it. Great review!
I prefer Circuit City in terms of prices, but in terms of products, Best Buy is the way to go. Sorry that the service you got there sucked. Hopefully, they will learn from your experience.
