Review of Betty Crocker Devils Food Cupcake Mix

Johanna Swith
I love to bake cupcakes. At my house cupcakes are a favorite dessert, and in my opinion they are just the right size for after dinner treats. I don't always have time to bake my cupcakes from scratch. I frequently call upon Betty Crocker's handy mixes to whip up a fun and delicious dessert.

I like Betty Crocker products, I have used many of them. One of my favorites is devil's food Cupcake Mix. It is pretty good if you follow the simple directions on the box. However it is absolutely delicious if you follow my instructions to doctor it up a little.

First of all, there is nothing wrong with these cupcakes the way the box directs you to prepare them. Betty Crocker would know what she is talking about right?

I like how easy the cupcakes are to prepare, and I like the devils food because it is slightly different than standard old chocolate cupcakes. I love the price, the cupcake mixes are priced around $1.25 per box generally. That is a lot less expensive than making cupcakes from scratch.

If you follow the instructions you pretty much can't screw these cupcakes up, which is another added bonus for any inexperienced baker.

Now if you want not only a healthier, and more moist cupcake follow these simple instructions, Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, mix the eggs, and cupcake mix. However omit the cooking oil, and in its place use applesauce, unsweetened preferably. Anything is fine, as long as it doesn't contain cinnamon, which will change the flavor. Blend well.

If you like cherries, you can add half a can of cherry pie filling, or apple pie filling would work, depending on the flavor of cupcakes you are baking. Bake for about 25 minutes or until finished. You will know when the cupcakes are ready, if you insert a toothpick, and it is clean when you remove it.

Over all I love Betty Crockers Devils Food cupcakes, it is a product you can count on to be delicious and of a good quality. The mixes are easy to prepare, inexpenive, and a great dessert, especially if you are watching your portions. I would recommend Betty Crocker Devils Food Cupcake mix to anyone who likes chocolate or devils food cupcakes, and wants to enjoy a dessert they baked at home. It is a great alternative to bakery cupcakes, and it does not take long to prepare this cupcake mix either.
