Review of Betty Crocker and Home Trends Candles

Chen Salis
I love candles and often times, I tend to go overboard on candles when I am shopping. I have found a few candles for a mere one dollar that I love, and a few that made me wish I had saved my one dollar. In this review I will focus on Betty Crocker candles and Home Trends jar candles. Both brands are priced at one dollar.

First off is the Betty Crocker line of scented candles. I found these at my local dollar store and they smelled so good, unlit. These are a decent size candle for the price of one dollar, and they come in a little glass container in an assortment of fragrances that all sound and smell really nice. I could not make a decision between Chocolate Chip Cookies, Blueberry Crumble, Lemon Meringue Pie and Apple Pie, so I bought them all. At a price as affordable as a dollar, why not? I liked the vibrant colors of the candles as well as the selection of scents, and the fragrance its self. I generally like Betty Crocker products. I must admit, I am one of those people who can leave a candle to sit, unburnt for a few months sometimes. Well, when I did light this Betty Crocker Blueberry Crumble candle after about three weeks, it produced a really thick black smoke. It was very noticeable, and very strong, and unpleasant! I could not smell Blueberry Crumbles, just the scent of something burning! All four of the Betty Crocker dessert fragrance candles I bought immediately found their way out on the deck, where they could be lit, without smoking us out, and leaving black soot in the house. The candles were not worth a dollar each! I was very dissatisfied with this product, no wonder I bought it at the dollar store!

If you are seeking a fragrant and clean burning jar candle, I would recommend the Home Trends line of candles. They cost one dollar, and they smell fantastic without the thick black smoke I experienced earlier with the Betty Crocker scented candles.

The Home Trends line of candles features fragrances like: Hazelnut and cream, Clean Linen, Warm Apple Pie, Passion Fruit, Sweet Pea and Cranberry Mandarin, to name a few. These jar candles smell great, are long burning, and really affordable! The jar they come is an attractive glass jar, that could be reused for votive candles at a later time.

I would recommend the Home Trends line of candles to anyone, these are a good buy. As for the Betty Crocker dessert fragrances line of candles, save your money on this one.
