Review: Biggest Loser 5: Couples, Episode 9

Amy
I am a weekly watcher of the Biggest Loser and have not liked the "blue" team since it was formed. They are cocky, and they showed that at the very beginning of this episode after it was revealed that Jay had won the "Vegas Baby Vegas" ticket from being the Biggest Loser of the week during episode 8. The blue teams coach Bob was not happy. I actually would not be either. By taking a trip to Vegas, even though they still have the opportunity to workout, is like saying "I don't care about being here on the Biggest Loser and that it is basically better to go out and party in Vegas." The blue team also made sure to go over to the black team so that they too knew what was going on. Jillian, the black teams coach, also thought it was ridiculous and made sure her team felt the same.

While the Biggest Loser blue team was in Vegas they did work out first then play which shouldn't have surprised me but you know how guys are. Honestly, for even accepting to go, I wish they would have failed. The Biggest Loser black team called in room service for the blue team to try and tempt the guys. However, the guys wheeled the cart into the hall without eating anything.

Roger and Dan did stay up late and missed the workout with Jay and Mark. Roger did make his up before they went out for breakfast. I still hoped that they messed up somehow by either not working out hard enough or partying too much. I was disappointed by how much was actually shown of this trip during the episode. Other than a few minutes during the workouts they did, all the Biggest Loser blue team got tattoos that said pride, except Dan who got a guardian angel. How sweet! Really?

I am a bit partial to the Biggest Loser black team because they seem more down to Earth and sweet. Jillian did get a bit irritated with Brittany, which I can understand due to the lower amount of weight she has lost. She has only had two good weigh-ins, but then she only weighed around 220 to begin with. The more you have to lose the easier it is, which could be a possible explanation for why the Biggest Loser blue team keeps winning weigh-ins. Even with Jillian getting on to Brittany, I am again impressed with their determination to keep working as hard as they can.

At the Biggest Loser reward competition, or whatever you may call it, the blue team again showed their caulkiness by saying they would win it in a breeze. I was a little let down by the black team since Kelly could not keep up. However, one has got to remember that I do believe she has asthma issues and had trouble breathing. You cannot help forces of nature since she was forced to play. Ultimately, the Biggest Loser blue team won again with a reward trip to Puerto Rico with a loved one.

At the last chance workout, both teams were being pushed by their trainers; especially Brittany. After seeing the black team workout versus the blue team workout, I was impressed by how hard the black team worked out. I hoped to God that the black team would win in the weigh-in. The weigh-ins almost seem a bit unfair to me. This also goes back to Jillian getting irritated at Brittany. How is someone that started out at 220 expected to compete with someone who started at 400. If in the end the person who weighed 400 lost 55% of the weight going down to 180, then is the person who weighed 220 expected to go down to at least 99 pounds to win? That is definitely not healthy for the average size male or female.

At the weigh-in I got a bit nervous. Kelly & Brittany only lost 6 pounds each and Maggi lost 8. However, I did get a bit of hope when Bernie lost 10 pounds bringing the total lost pounds to 30 and a 3.69% weight loss. I really wanted to see low numbers on the Biggest Loser blue team and I actually thought I would. However, Dan, weighing in first, lost 7 pounds and Roger lost 8. This also, however, meant that Jay and Mark had to lose 20 pounds or more. Jay only lost 7! I was grateful hoping that there was no way Mark could lose 13 or more two weeks in a row. I really wanted to see Dan or Mark leave.

With Mark's 1-pound weight loss, the Biggest Loser blue team went to the elimination room having lost a total 24 pounds and 2.47%. Hallelujah! However, Dan could not be voted out. I was so grateful when they all agreed to vote Mark out due to his statement during another episode when he said he would go when it was time after Trent volunteerily went episode 7. Mark had fought it but after Roger got upset about relizing that he was odd man out Mark realized that he should be the one to go. Roger is a genuine guy who I am happy to see stay and without Mark maybe the team will get over their caulkiness.
