Review: The Biggest Loser Couples Finale

J A Roark
The Biggest Loser Couples ends the season live in Hollywood. It is down to the final four, with America choosing the final competitor will it be Roger or Mark? You may recall, Mark returned to the Biggest Loser after previously being voted off. Roger has been on the campus the entire time. I feel that the people who were voted off and then returning to the show later is not fair to the other contestants. America finally had a say where we were offered to vote online, after the last episode, to choose who should stay. America decided that Roger would get to stay. Mark stated that he was happy to be part of the show and if it was not for all the twists and turns in the game, he would not be standing there today. In the same kind of twist, Ali was brought back on the show after being voted off as well. The girls have a chance to win this season with two of them in the finales. Ali is very confident that she will be the winner, "Pink is the color of the Biggest Loser". However, was her return really fair to those who were already on campus?

Along with the return of Ali and Mark, the show was full of twist and turns along the way. They started out as couples, team mate, competing against other couples. Before long, they became the blue and black team where they were now competing as teams against each other. Mark was part of the Blue team while Ali was part of the Black team. However, Ali wore her Pink for the rest of the season. Kelly had to feel like she had no support from anyone when her teammate is not exactly a teammate, but more of an individual wearing her pink. In the end, the teams were broke down to individuals. However, the blue team had each other's backs the entire time, and did all they could to keep "Pride" alive! You may remember the 1 pound weigh in awards. I do not get how that is really fair. Those who worked their butts off and end up falling behind over one pound that was not really lost. That does not seem fair to me.

They became part of the Biggest Loser Couples because they wanted to lose the weight that they have gained over the years. Roger came to campus weighing in at 363, Kelly was 271, and Ali was 234. Ali was given the opportunity to call the line up for the final weigh in as she had the largest percentage of weight loss in the previous episode. Roger weighed in first, his final weigh in was 199 pounds. He lost a total of 164 pounds! Kelly stepped on the scale next. Her final weight gain was 162 pounds. Then it was down to the final weigh in. Ali bravely took on the scale. She needed to lose 105 pounds to win the Biggest Loser. After what seemed like a very long commercial break, the scale revealed that Ali was indeed the Biggest Loser. She weighed in at 122 pounds with a total weight loss of 112 pounds, or was it 109? The scale showed one weight while the percentage board showed the other figure. I guess either way Ali is still the biggest loser. However, I wonder who would have really won if the rules didn't change along the way.

I think that when it comes to shows like the Biggest Loser, the rules need be laid out and followed to make it a bit fair to those who are in it to win it and working to lose the weight. Not being sent home over a one pound ticket.

I am in total agreement. I liked Ali but Roger was there the whole time! The tickets are foolish. It doesn't represent why they are there which is true weight loss. I was so aggravated when the last set of contestants cheated by drinking water for weight retention so they could vote someone off. That was disgusting. I know they have to entertain to keep an audience but there must be some other ways to do it.
