Review: Bright Looking Eyes with Almay Intense I-color Powder Shadow

Susan Slade
I love it when I find products in the Dollar Tree that retail for $8 for more. This was the case when I was able to pick up the Almay Intense i-color powder shadow palette.

The colors I chose were 024, which says 'trio for greens'. It then shows a green eye, and that is when I realized what they were on about. I have brown eyes, and I wear brown, dark and light beige, and cream eye shadows. This is why I purchase this trio of colors.

They come in a sturdy palette. It is silver plastic underneath, and clear on top. It has 3 eye shadows, and the colors are a mid brown, a beige with a pink tint, and a lighter beige with a hint of yellow in it. They are all shimmering colors.

The net weight of the eyeshadow is 0.13 ounce (3.6 g). These are good size eye shadows and make for a great combination.

The only problem I saw immediately was that there was only one applicator. Even using both sides, you still need another one, for applying the eye shadows.

I love to experiment with shades that I am comfortable with. When I turned the packaging over I found out that the colors are actually, wine, smoky rose, and champagne. I went with the instructions on the back, to put the smoky rose all over my eyelids, then the wine into the crease of the eyelid, and then the champagne, towards the brow. I always blend them in with my fingertips.

My eyes really looked as if they were bigger, and brighter. I can see why Almay put this color combination together. I then used a good quality black mascara, to really set my eyes a glow.

The eyeshadow is silky and smooth, and the minerals in it, seem to give extra light to my eyes.

The eyeshadow stays on really well, and I only applied a little more to the crease in my eyelids, and a tiny touch to the brow area, before going dancing, that evening.

When I came home, I just did my regular cleansing, and the eyeshadow came off easily.

There are 3 other color combinations to try, for blue, brown, and hazel eyes. Yes, I bought the one for green eyes, because I preferred the colors on me.

Almay state:

" Long-lasting color pigments provide all day wear without fading or creasing

Try ALMAY intense i-colorâ„¢ shades with light interplay technologyâ„¢, formulated with light catching minerals to instantly brighten eyes.

Hypoallergenic. Opthalmologist tested."

I am extremely happy with the Almay intense i-color palette, and only wished I had picked up more for $1. They look great, stay well, don't crease, or flake, and when I am done, they come off without a problem.
