Review: Bumbo Play Tray for Bumbo Babysitter Seat

Emily Harmon
With my first child I fell in love with the Bumbo Babysitter baby seat. This uniquely shaped seat is perfect for sitting your baby, a baby that is still too small to sit up alone but has good head control, in an upright position. The Bumbo Babysitter was used in our house for playtime and meal times very frequently. The one thing I thought the Bumbo Babysitter was missing was a tray. A tray on the front of the sitter would be perfect for feeding and also for holding playthings. Enter the Bumbo Play Tray. The Bumbo Play Tray, designed specifically to attach to the front of a Bumbo Babysitter seat, is just what I was looking for.

The Bumbo Play Tray is a small plastic tray that snaps together then attaches to the front of the Bumbo Babysitter after your baby is in the seat. The Bumbo Play Tray can be used to put toys easily within baby's reach, or to house baby food jars or first finger foods for feeding times. The Bumbo Play Tray certainly increases the uses of the Bumbo Babysitter by adding these options for parents.

The best part of the Bumbo Play Tray is that it does what it says it does. It puts toys right within baby's reach and while the entire surface of the tray may be too deep for some smaller babies, most will grow to be able to reach the entire tray surface. The Bumbo Play Tray is affordable, at only about $10-$12, and is easily wiped cleaned with a damp washcloth or sanitizing wipe. The Bumbo Play Tray is also easy to put together and the strong plastic is quite durable.

Unfortunately there are some problems with the Bumbo Play Tray as well. First of all, the pieces must be firmly snapped together before use, or they will easily come apart, sometimes in baby's hands. Secondly, attaching the Bumbo Play Tray to the Bumbo Babysitter can be a bit of a challenge as you try to keep tiny fingers out of the way to keep from pinching baby. The Bumbo Play Tray cannot be attached to the front of the seat before the baby is placed inside so you always run the risk of pinching those fast moving little fingers as you attach it.

Despite a few downfalls, the Bumbo Play Tray is still a great addition to the Bumbo Babysitter baby seat. If your baby enjoys sitting in his Bumbo, look for the affordable Bumbo Play Tray to add new life to this useful piece of baby gear.

Good review, you're absolutely right - our grandson has a Bumbo and the tray is difficult to get on and off. Thanks for sharing!
