Too many times when you go on vacation it is hard to find a version of that nice local sports bar you left at home. Most bars in beach towns tend to be overpriced and serve food below what you expect for the cost. That is not the case with Buxy's Salty Dog Saloon in Ocean City, Maryland. Buxy's Salty Dog Saloon is located at 2707 Coastal Highway in Ocean City, Maryland which is actually at the intersection of 28th Street and Coastal Highway. The key with Buxy's Salty Dog Saloon is you have to realize what it is, and not expect too much, or too little for that matter. Buxy's Salty Dog Saloon is a sports bar, they excel at serving convenience food while you are on vacation. The chili at Buxy's Salty Dog Saloon can not be beat, as a matter of fact it has been determined to be the best chili in Ocean City, Maryland for back to back years. The chili is filled with meat and beans, and has an interesting combination of sweetness and spiciness, it resembles a Cincinnati style chili with beans added to it. You can enjoy a nice bowl of chili, or one of the sandwiches or wraps at Buxy's Salty Dog Saloon. There are only four wraps on the menu, ranging in price from $8-10. The best is the Chesapeake Wrap which uses an old bay flavored wrap to hold a hearty serving of chicken and crab imperial topped with bacon, lettuce, and tomatoes.

The wrap is good, but the real treat is the special sandwiches at Buxy's Salty Dog Saloon. The Blue Plate Sandwich is a true example of comfort food. The Blue Plate Sandwich is a piece of thick tasty Texas toast with meatloaf on top and gravy poured over it. My favorite though is the Tiny Hiny Turkey and it is not just because of the funny name. This sandwich has hot turkey, and only gets hotter with sauteed onions and jalepenos. The Tiny Hiny Turkey comes topped with melted white American Cheese, but I prefer mine with swiss cheese. Of course it is never a problem when I make that request. There are 17 sandwiches in total, ranging from $8-10 each.
