Review of the C4 Corvette

America's Sports Car is Affordable and Better Than the Competition

Tyler Jenkins
Last September I finally had a chance to buy my dream car. I have always wanted Corvette ragtop and now it has finally come true. This car is amazing in every way. Starting with the LT1 engine, the traditional American small block in this car produces 300 ponies. With 300hp and a curb weight of 3350 pounds, this car is more like a rocket ship. The low curb weight is thanks to a fiberglass body which is light weight, completely resistant to rust or corrosion and dent proof. The car also uses a substantial amount of aluminum in the frame, and drive line assembly.

My car has an automatic transmission, and while I would have preferred a stick the automatic 4 speed is just as good. It's surprising that so many vette's and all American muscle cars come with automatic transmissions. The ride on this car is what you would expect from a sports car. It's a bit rough but not to bad thanks to the cars independent suspension all the way around. I absolutely love the exterior of this car. The later C4 corvette coupes are one of the sexiest cars in my opinion. It has such smooth lines and even looks better than the C5 and C6 corvettes. The interior is really cool as well, with a rap around dash leather sport seats and a killer sound system.

The top comes down on this car really easy. Many people criticize the corvette for having a manual top. I actually like it as it saves weight and complexity to the system. Instead of using 1 finger to put the top down you have to use both hands. Big deal! With the top down you're in a whole new world as you feel the wind brush past your hair.

I love this car to death, and I think it is better than a C5 corvette in every way with the exception of the drive train. Put in an all aluminum 350hp LS1 and a rear trans axle and you'll have the best car ever.
