A colleague and I went for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. We wanted a quiet place with wireless internet access so we could work and talk. I knew that Calhoun's in the Turkey Creek Shopping Center had the wireless internet so we headed over there. It's part of the locally owned Copper Cellar chain of restaurants. Calhoun's is for upscale barbeque served in a relaxed atmosphere. Most diners wear business casual.

The Turkey Creek area can be a difficult to navigate. Calhoun's Restaurant is right beside the Pinnacle Regal Cinema and in front of Party City. If you are coming from Kingston Pike the restaurant will be on the left.

The near empty parking lot on the outside meant immediate seating on the inside. Our hostess cheerfully found us a table that was near an electrical outlet.

Our server appeared just after we were seated at the Calhoun's in Turkey Creek She took our drink orders and tried to help us decide what to order. All of her suggestions sounded good.

At Calhoun's in Turkey Creek the specialty is barbeque. I decided to try the chicken ($12.50). A food allergy to onions limited my options for side items so I took the yellow rice and corn pudding. My colleague decided to order the fried catfish and chips ($11.00) which included a side of southern style cole slaw.

Calhoun's in Turkey Creek also has steaks, barbeque ribs, chicken and salads. They have an assortment of appetizers to choose from. The restaurant is also famous for its handcrafted beers and tempting desserts. Check online for their full menu.

After our server turned in the order she brought out a basket of bread. The garlic rolls are tops at Calhoun's! Also in the basket was a corn muffin and biscuit. They use real butter instead of the honey butter or margarine that some places are using these days.

Lunch at the Calhoun's in Turkey Creek arrived in a few minutes. My entrée included half a chicken. There was a thigh and leg combination along with a breast and wing combination.

The chicken wasn't in a barbeque sauce but instead had a flavorful rub. It was a little dry. The bottle of Calhoun's famous barbeque sauce that was on the table went perfectly with the chicken. Both the rice and corn were served hot and tasted great.

The corn pudding is similar to spoon bread or a corn soufflé. The small ramekin was filled with a fluffy mixture that included whole corn kernels. It's an item that I look forward to ordering next time.

My college said he was happy with his mean and eagerly dug into his fried catfish. He enjoyed it and said that both of his side items were hot and tasted good.

The server at Calhoun's in Turkey Creek gave us time to eat and breathing space get some work done. We began to work after the food plates were cleared and noticed an almost immediate lag in service. For most of our time there she kept our tea glasses filled. I was satisfied with that.

We had a good meal and were able to get our work done. The total for my meal was $16.22 with iced tea and tax. I'll be going back to the Calhoun's in Turkey Creek.
