Review of California Chips: Earthquake Flavored Potato Chips

Candice W.
California Chips earthquake flavored potato chips caught my eye one day and I had to taste a bag. I didn't know anything about these chips and I'm always willing to try new snacks.

Here is my review of the California Chips Earthquake Potato Chips.

During lunchtime at work one day I had to settle on buying junk food from the vending machine. After purchasing a beverage, I browsed the potato chip selection. There were two brands of potato chips I had never seen before in the vending machine. One of those brands were California Chips. The flavor of these chips, Earthquake, made me curious. What exactly is an earthquake flavor? I purchased a bag to find out.

When I bit into the first chip I immediately tasted a sweet flavor. Earthquake flavored chips are mainly a combination of a honey and barbecue flavor. You'd describe it as honey barbecue. The taste was pleasant although not my usual type of chip flavor. California Chips puts a lot of flavoring on these chips. You can taste the flavor by just setting a chip on your tongue.

After some research I found that the Earthquake flavor is a combination of all of popular California Chip flavors. In addition to the Earthquake flavor, California Chips flavors include Honey BBQ, Sea Salted and Creamy Chipotle.

California Chips advertise their product as kosher certified, cholesterol free, expeller pressed sunflower oil blend, trans fat free and gluten free potato chips. The chips don't have any artificial flavors, artificial colors and no preservatives.

One 1.5 ounce bag of California Chips Earthquake Potato Chips contains 210 calories with 120 calories from fat. Each bag is 13 grams of fat, 210 mg of sodium and 25 grams of carbohydrates.

Premium Snacks, LLC makes California Chips in Oxnard, CA. You may be able to find these bags of California Chips locally. If not, you can always buy them online. You can order an eight-bag box of California Chips containing 6 ounce-bags of one flavor for $24. Also available at the same price are large boxes with 25, 1.5 ounce bags of one flavor or a sample box with 25, 1.5 ounce bags of the four flavors.

Overall, I would recommend that you buy a bag of California Chips Earthquake flavored potato chips, if you're up for trying something new. You may also like that these potato chips are gluten free and kosher.

No artificial flavors or additives? Who are you kidding? You think you could pick up some Monosodium Glutamate at the Farmer's Market?!

Having lived through several California earthquakes, I can assure you the flavor of that experience is not at all sweet. Sounds like a great-tasting chip, though. Good article. Thanks for sharing it and your excellent product research.
