After reading the rave reviews about the game once I got my copy of black ops I could not wait to play it. The campaign on this version of call of duty is very different. Now I must say that there were some serious upgrades in terms of the graphics. With all of the extreme violence this game is not as child friendly as its predecessor. This version of the game pre-dates the cold war. It starts the campaign off talking about Castro and Cuban missile crisis. The main character of the game is equivalent almost to a Manchurian candidate because he has been brainwashed with traits similar to that of a "sleeper." It is kind of confusing because it keeps jumping back and forth throughout different war conflicts of the 1960s. Most hardcore gamers might feel a little cheated at the fact that the previous game dealt with modern warfare and the weapons were very advance. In this game in terms of weaponry it takes a step backwards. In my opinion this game should have been introduced before the modern warfare version. It is not hard to tell that both call of duty and Black Ops were made by two different developers because of the difference in both the campaigns and multi-player modes. Now I am only offering my constructive criticism of the game because I cannot minimize the fact that lots of research and planning were put into this game. I do feel that the hype was actually greater than the game itself. This game might have exceeded sales goals but I can assure you that it did not exceed consumer expectations.
