Review: Camden Martinique Apartments - Costa Mesa, CA

Last year, my wife and I decided to move from Ohio to California. The most difficult part of planning our relocation was selecting a location and apartment. We eventually settled on the Camden Martinique located in Costa Mesa. The following is a review of our experience with the Camden Martinique. Hopefully, it will help you determine whether the Camden Martinique is the perfect place for your family to call home.

Location, Location, Location

The Camden Martinique is located in Costa Mesa in Orange County, California. The apartment complex is situated just minutes from the San Diego Freeway. Also, John Wayne Airport is only a short ten minute drive from the apartment complex.

There are plenty of shopping venues in the area. There are several grocery and department stores within walking distance. Residents can also take a short drive to Metro Pointe and South Coast Plaza.

The Martinique is a great place for students. The apartment complex is located only a block away from Orange Coast College and Coastline Community College. Also nearby are Vanguard University, National University, and Wittier Law School.

The Property

The Camden Martinique features two swimming pools and four hot tubs. The complex also has two lit tennis courts and a fitness room. The fitness room is small but can comfortably accommodate six to eight people. Each building has a laundry room on each floor. The laundry facilities use a prepaid card system that can be loaded using a debit or credit card.

Each building has a two level underground parking garage. There is additional parking in the center drive and parking on the street adjacent to the apartment complex. It is sometimes difficult for guests to find a parking space. The center drive is almost always full. Street parking usually has several open spots but requires guests to walk at least one block.

The property at the Camden Martinique is well maintained. The landscaping is full of tall palm trees, tropical plants, and flowers. There are also several fountains on the property.

The Apartments

Regardless of the floor plan, all apartments come with a refrigerator, stove, mounted microwave, and dishwasher. Every apartment has at least one balcony or patio. Some of the larger floor plans have an additional balcony or patio off the master bedroom. The units all have vertical blinds and large windows and sliding doors that let in plenty of natural light. All of the apartments also have central air. The air conditioning unit is located on the balcony or patio and cannot be heard inside when it is running.

Crime and Safety

In addition to the gated parking garages, the property is also patrolled by security guards during nighttime hours. The walkways and garages within the building are well lit. However, many of the surrounding walkways outside the buildings are dimly lit.

In the year that we have lived at the Camden Martinique, there have been very few incidents. Most issues were the result of loud parties and cars occasional getting broken into. Other than that, I would say the property is really safe.

Overall, we found the Camden Martinique to be a great place to live. Whether you are looking for a pad to crash with your college buddies or a place to for your family to live, the Camden Martinique has a little something for everyone.
