6 MP with 4x Optical Zoom and 20 Shooting Modes

Ranee Wright
The Canon PowerShot A540 is a 6 Mega-Pixel digital camera with 4x optical zoom lens combines 20 creative shooting modes, flexibility and ease of use. Ideal for beginners who want to point-and-shoot or photographers who want more options. This Canon digital camera is full of high-end specs and high-performance capabilities, provides great picture quality and hails great reviews.

Additional Features of Canon PowerShot A540 Digital Camera:

- Big 2.5" LCD screen with Night Display and Grid Line Display (85,000 pixels of resolution).

- ISO 800 shooting enables faster shutter speeds.

- Converter lense compatible.

- PictBridge capability and Print/Share button for increased versatility!

- Shoot small format clips of up to 3 minutes for easy sharing via email.

- Widescreen (16:9) stills recording.

- 30-frame-per-second VGA movie recording.

- Menu system feature supports 23 languages, including Arabic.

The Powershot A540 offers the option of a converter lense for more professional photos. It is also very easy to use for point-and-shoot purposes. PictBridge allows for instant direct printing and the Print/Share button on the digital camera enables one-touch printing and easy organization. The ISO 800 reduces camera shake and sharpens subjects in low-light situations when shooting with high shutter speeds. When batteries start to get low, there will be a noticeable delay between picture taking.

I did extensive research and read many digital camera reviews before deciding on the Canon digital camera. A resilient digital camera, my Canon PowerShot A540 is 3 years old and I do not foresee replacing it anytime soon. The 'auto' mode is what I mostly use for point-and-shoot purposes.

Buy the Canon PowerShot A540 Digital Camera
Available on Amazon.com for $200 new, $80 used - plus s/h (as of December 17, 2009). Incudes: PowerShot A540 body, 2 AA-size alkaline battery, MultiMediaCard, wrist strap, Digital Camera Solution CD-ROM, USB interface cable and AV cable. I bought my Canon digital camera through Amazon and am a very happy customer.

Battery recommendations:
Energizer lithium batteries last a long time in this digital camera (depending on frequency of use and whether you use Display). You could also use rechargeable batteries - I recommend Nickel-Metal Hydride; 1.2V 2000mAh.

I have a Fuji I bought from QVC. I love it, though I don't really know how to work all the gadgets.
