The Canon PowerShot Pro Series S5 IS 8.0 MP has many features that make this camera a great buy. First, it has 12x optical lens. This is amazing and it is a feature that you will find yourself using all of the time. There is nothing better than a sharp up-close image of your subject. The camera is also capable of detecting a face which is beneficial for focusing and centering. Even if there are multiple faces in the photo, it will automatically choose the best focus point. Optical zoom is much different than digital zoom. When you use the zoom feature, it is very fast and quiet. The camera is 8.0 megapixels. This means that when you crop or print your images from your camera, you will receive quality photos with vibrant color and contrast. Compared to other digital cameras, any videos that are recorded with this camera will look sharper and clearer. If you are worried about blurry photos that are often the result of shakiness, worry no more! Because the camera is equipped with Optical Image Stabilizer Technology, the camera automatically finds and fixes any shake in the camera without affecting the image quality of your photos. The LCD viewing screen is 2.5", which is larger than many digital cameras. Because more of your actual photo will show on the screen, capturing your subject is very easy with the large viewing screen. The actual camera is mid-sized. Unlike the Canon Elph, it is not pocket friendly. If you are looking for a very small camera that is easily carried in a pocket, this is not the camera for you. The camera is about 6x4x1 and weighs approximately 1.5 pounds.
Another great feature of this camera is that there are a variety of shooting modes to obtain the best pictures at any given point. Whether you are outside on a bright beach, watching sports and need a motion focus or want to accent the colors, the Canon PowerShot Pro Series S5 IS 8.0 MP has 22 shooting modes for you to choose from. The camera is equipped with a memory card and is powered by AA batteries, which can be recharged.
When you are ready to download or print your photos, it is very easy. The easy to read manual will guide you through the process if needed. There is a USB cable that comes with the camera and there is also a print/share button on the camera for direct printing or downloading.
You can find this camera online at several different stores, including Amazon.com, where we purchased ours. Many consumers that like the Canon PowerShot Pro Series S5 IS 8.0 MP also like the Canon PowerShot Pro Series S3 IS 6.0 MP , but most end up with the Canon PowerShot Pro Series S5 IS 8.0 MP because of all of the features and extra sharp images. Some people also like the Panasonic version or the Sony version. If you are looking for a flatter, more compact camera, you would likely be interested in a Canon Elph.
