Review Canon PowerShot SX10-IS Digital Camera

Brandy A.
The Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Digital Camera is ideal for anyone that is a fan of digital photography. Whether it's a hobby or you just like to take photos of your family and friends. This camera is powerful enough to take on any challenge you need it for. This guide will help you learn the basics, the specs, and my personal opinion and review.

Average price for this camera is $399.99. I bought mine from Best Buy, in store, but you could check around at various places. The price doesn't change much, but it depends on where you look. If wanting to order it online, a few suggestions are:
www.amazon.com
www.ebay.com
www.walmart.com
www.bestbuy.com
These are the websites that I trust, and have personal experience with. If you happen to find the camera at any other site, I have no experience with it and can not give advice.

Features
The first thing that got my attention with this camera (besides how it looks) is the 20x optical zoom and 10 mega pixel resolution. My favorite feature is the flip out 2.5in flexible LCD screen, you can have it out to the side or flip it over flat on the camera. Even have it facing you as you are taking a picture of yourself. And the buttons are easy to use, even one touch video record button that will work no matter the mode you are in. Take pictures while recording. Also a one touch print button, to print your photo straight from the camera to your photo printer. Shoot in color, black and white, vivid blue, neutral, and a wide range of effects, modes, and special scenes (like fireworks and beach).

Downsides
The lens is not replaceable, so attachments are not necessary.

When buying brand new you should have several items in the box. Not just your camera, but you should get the lens cap, the lens hood, 4 AA batteries (not rechargeable) and the PowerShot neck strap. As well as the USB data cable and the CD-Rom needed to install the camera software to your computer. And a A/V cable that can be hooked directly to your TV/Cable box/DVD/VCR so you can watch your slide show or video straight from your camera to your TV.

Optional supplies
When I bought my camera, I went all out and bought a nice camera bag to store it in, as well as a 4GB SD Memory Card (which holds over 5000 pictures plus many photos, and I still have not filled it up completely). A mini tripod and a full size collapsible tripod. Also some rechargeable batteries with charger. I even built my own photo shoot backdrop with studio lamps. I love photography and I know these extra items are not necessary, but I use them everyday. It's a hobby of mine, and I have a large camera collection, the Canon PowerShot SX10 IS just happens to be my favorite by far. There is possibly better ones out there, but this Canon fit perfectly into my budget, and I am very satisfied with it.
