Review of Canon SX 120 Is

Recently, I switched cameras from my old Kodak Easy Share CX7530 5.0 megapixel camera to a Canon SX 120 IS digital camera. The Canon is 10.0 megapixels with a 10 X optical zoom and 40 X digital zoom. The camera has many features and modes, including an image stabilization feature.

At first glance, this camera may look difficult to use, but it is actually quite simple. It has a flip out flash and the camera will let you know if you need to use it. If you are looking at the view screen on the back (which is a 3.0 inch LCD screen) and it is too dark, than you have to either, switch modes, flip the flash up, or do both.

Another really cool thing about this camera is that by switching to manual mode, you can take pictures with different color settings like Sepia Tone, Vivid, and Black and White. The only thing about changing the color mode is that you need a tone of light for the pictures to come out properly.

One thing that some may find frustrating about this camera is that there is no view finder. I personally like this because it leaves more room for the flip up flash. In my personal opinion, I feel that a view finder is not necessary digital camera, especially one that has such a large screen.

Like many cameras, the Canon SX 120 also has a mode to make videos. The length of the videos that you can make depends on the size of the memory card that you put in the camera. The quality of the picture and sound quality were much better than I was expecting when it comes to videos. The camera even comes with a cord that allows you to view pictures and videos on your television.

The Canon SX 120 takes standard SD cards, SDHC cards, MultiMedia Cards, MMCPlus memory cards and HC MMC Plus memory cards. These can be found at any store that sells digital cameras and accessories. Also, many computers have slots for SD cards so that the computer can read your pictures without you even installing the software that comes with the camera.

This camera also takes 2 AA batteries, any brand. With two AA batteries, this camera has a good battery life. I have not tried rechargeables, so I do not know how long they will last. The camera even comes with 2 batteries and a small memory card. The camera, if you are using the software, unloads with a USB cable. It comes with that as well.

This camera is not extremely slim, but it is small enough to fit into a purse or carry bag. If you have larger pockets, it may even fit into your pocket. The camera comes with a cord to wrap around your wrist. The size of the camera is good for holding. The price of the camera is not too expensive, but it is not extremely cheap either. It retails for $249, unless you can find it on sale.

I definitely recommend getting the Canon SX 120. The quality of the pictures is great and the camera is easy to use. It is a definite upgrade from my old camera. I could talk so much more about this camera's features, but you should check them out for yourself! You will be glad that you did.
