Flavor
Essentially all Cape Cod Potato Chips have a full flavor with a satisfying crunch. It may help you to understand why Cape Cod Potato Chips are so good when you learn that they're kettle cooked. Another part of the incredible flavor equation with Cape Cod Potato Chips overall is the simple ingredient list. The ingredient list for Cape Cod Robust Russet Potato Chips reads as simply as many of the other Cape Cod Potato Chip recipe lists:
russet potatoes, canola oil, and salt.
There's a distinct flavor - nearly smoky - with the Cape Cod Robust Russet Potato Chips. As there are no spices listed in the ingredient panel, the full flavor must come from either the potato or the kettle cooking method. At any rate, the flavor is rich for a potato chip.
One of the best things about Cape Cod Potato Chips is that they really aren't greasy at all - especially when compared to many of the other brands of potato chips you're likely to find or try.

Post a CommentIt's December and Cape Cod is standing firm on discontinuing their Robust Russets. It's a shame. Not only do my husband and I love them, our guests actually stop mid-bite to compliment them and inquire what kind they are. I've never had that reaction before or since!! Why does Cape Cod fill their shelves with every weird flavor you can think of but discontinue these. It makes no sense.
Guess there is a limit to the amount of characters printable in the comment field. The "I'm guessing that a contact" wasn't part of their response. My comment should have concluded with my statement that there must be other russet potato chips on the market from other companies.
The Cape Cod Robust Russet variety has been my favorite, too, since it first came out years ago. When I contacted Cape Cod recently, this is what I was told:
Thank you for your inquiry about our Robust Russet. At Cape Cod we continually strive to maintain the right variety within our portfolio. From time to time factors such as ease of production and availability of certain potatoes come into consideration when determining the right items to produce. The russet potato, while unique in its appearance, texture and taste, was an item that put continuous strain on our manufacturing facility. Because of our rigorous standards, it became more difficult to produce the exceptional quality item that our consumers have come to love. Because of this, we have decided to discontinue our Robust Russet variety. We understand that there is truly no replacement for an item as unique as the russet, but we do hope that you try one of our other great varieties.
I'm guessing that a contact
Alice, it's true. I contacted Cape Code directly. The Robust Russet is no longer manufactured by Cape Cod. I urge you and all lovers of the flavor to help me wage a campaign for their return by contacting Cape Cod at http://www.capecodchips.com/ContactUs.aspx
I love these chips but can't seem to find them in my local super market or variety stores. I was told that they discontinued the robust chips is this true?
