I got a Capital One credit card about four years ago, and let me tell you, the card has many advantages. Capital One was only the second credit card I ever owned, and I was able to get a very low interest rate of about 8.9%. Due to a few late payments, it has since crept up to about 12.9, but that's still pretty low.
Capital one is accepted everywhere visa is accepted and the cards come with beautiful designs on them. For instance, my card is covered with a huge pink rose. Since the Capital One credit card has such an attractive design, it's the only card I look forward to renewing after the expiration date is up. Since I do have some debt, I don't necessarily look forward to getting copies of my other cards in the mail. I just want to cut them up when they come. But the Capital One credit card is just so pretty; I couldn't imagine doing anything like that.
As far as payments go, Capital One is pretty lenient. Most times, you can be late once in about six months without getting your interest rate increased. And like all credit cards, Capital one is very easy to swipe, so it's not difficult to rack up thousands of dollars on the card. It's also easy to spend money with this card because often, Capital One credit cards will send you these cute purchase checks. These checks keep you from taking out high interest cash advances on your card. The checks can be deposited into your bank account just like regular checks, and whatever money you use with the checks has the same interest rate that the credit card has.
These things are a sneaky way for Capital One to get you to spend money. But nonetheless, when I have found myself in a tight situation, I've really appreciated being able to simply deposit a Capital one check into my account.
Capital One also gets an A for customer service. When I call them, I don't have to worry about being put on hold for a long amount of time. Their phone representatives are knowledgeable, and they've never made a mistake on my account.
That's what's good about Capital One credit cards, but now for the bad part. This is small, but important thing.
Capital one does something very odd when it comes to your credit report. They don't seem to report your credit card limit. On my credit report, it just reads Capital one, never late, and it might say my balance. But since it doesn't report my limit, creditors are left sitting in the dark when it comes to seeing whether I've maxed myself out or have used my credit cards very well. That's the only problem I have with Capital One credit cards. Since I have a lot of other credit, it's not a problem for me if one card does not report me in the best light. But that may be a problem for someone who chooses Capital One as their one and only credit card. But I would still recommend this card to anyone because of it's beauty, customer service, and interest rate options.
