Review of Cascadian Farm Organic Oats & Honey Granola

Eliza Wynn
A while back, I started searching for a good granola cereal that I could eat either as packaged or with some additions for personalization. I have finally found one. Cascadian Farm Organic Oats & Honey Granola is a simple granola with a good texture. It's an organic product with quality ingredients, including oats, crisp rice, molasses, honey, and vanilla extract. A 17-ounce box costs $4.99 at my local store; this is a bit pricy, but I don't mind because it tastes delicious.

Cascadian Farm Organic Oats & Honey Granola: Serving Suggestions

This is a very good granola cereal. I like it by itself or as a base. So far, between us, my husband and I have added whole roasted unsalted almonds, milk chocolate chips, Craisins dried cranberries, golden raisins, and cashews, in various combinations. Although I like this cereal as packaged, my favorite way to eat it is to add a few almonds to the mix. My husband's favorite combination is almonds, Craisins, and chocolate chips.

Cascadian Farm Organic Oats & Honey Granola: Nutritional Information

A serving size of this cereal is 2/3 cup. Without added milk, a dry serving contains 230 calories, 50 of which are from fat. The total fat content per serving is 6g, of which 1g is saturated, 0.5g polyunsaturated, and 3.5 monounsaturated. This product doesn't contain trans fat or cholesterol. There are also 42g of total carbohydrates, including 3g fiber and 13g sugars. This product also contains 120mg of sodium and 5g of protein.

According to the website, this cereal contains soy products in the form of soy lecithin and the possible use of soybean oil. However, the box I have doesn't mention soy at all, and I don't know whether it's an older box or the website simply hasn't been updated. If I can find out, I'll update the information, but in the meantime, anyone wishing to avoid soy should check the box before purchasing.

Sounds good. I love Granola, either with milk or just dry if I need a quick snack. It's great sprinkled over ice cream too.
