Celebrate Vitamins markets vitamin, mineral and protein supplements to bariatric surgery patients. The company designed the Vanilla Cake Batter ENS Vitamin and Protein Drink to meet the special needs of bariatric surgery patients in the days immediately following surgery, when they must stick to a liquid diet and still need to get adequate vitamins, minerals and protein. However, this supplement can be used by anyone that wants an easy, tasty way to get their vitamins and boost their protein intake.
Some important things to note about Celebrate ENS vitamin and protein drink mixes are that they contain calcium citrate, a type of calcium that is absorbed better than other types like calcium carbonate, and they contain whey protein isolate, a form of protein that scores 100 on the PDCAAS, a scale that measures the absorption of protein on a scale of one to 100.
The directions on the package say to mix ENS with water but I actually prefer it mixed with milk. That makes it a little thicker and creamier and, in my opinion, improves the taste.
And the taste is good. It does taste, and smell, like vanilla cake batter. It's one of the few protein powders I like by itself. With most brands of protein powder, I have to add other things to improve the flavor, like frozen fruit or coffee. ENS, however, tastes fine by itself.
The powder dissolves easily if you mix your shake in a shaker bottle. You don't need to put it in the blender, although of course you can if you like. It gets a little foamy if you mix it in the blender, as all protein powders do, but not as foamy as some other brands. If you let it sit in the fridge for a few minutes, much of the foam will dissipate, although I actually kind of like my protein shakes foamy.
You can purchase Vanilla Cake Batter ENS Vitamin and Protein Drink in single serving packets or in a large tub. Buying a tub of the mix is a little cheaper, but I personally find the single serving packets more convenient. There's no need to measure out powder and they are easy to carry around with me if I'm going to be out and about for the day.
