Review of Chalet Restaurant and Lounge in Roslyn, NY

Roslyn's Chalet Restaurant and Lounge

Michelle Wilhelm
I recently visited Chalet Restaurant and Lounge in Roslyn, NY (also known as the Roslyn Chalet) with a group of 10 women ages 21-40. Our mission was to find a lounge on Long Island that would entertain my 34 year old sister for her bachelorette party and also meet her high standards of luxury. Lucky for us, she was happy at the Chalet Restaurant and Lounge.

We arrived at the Chalet Restaurant and Lounge in Roslyn, NY at 9:00PM and were brought upstairs to the third floor to a private lounge that was curtained off to the rest of the lounge. The long red curtains created a good amount of privacy from the eyes of those on their way to the bathroom which was just outside the room. This small area was big enough to accommodate our party of 12 and could easily accommodate a few more people.

The loft lounge room was clean and decorated in white and red with white leather Barcelona seats. The waitress came in often to take our orders and everything was brought out to us quickly. The host also came to greet us and check in on us to make sure there was nothing else they could do.

The food was plated nicely but lacked in taste and freshness. We seemed divided on the fondue. Half of us thought it was repulsive and the other half thought it was delicious. Personally, I thought it was melted American cheese. We also ordered the fried calamari, Mediterranean platter, humus and olives, slider burgers and pizza. The pizza was actually really good. It was exactly what a small New York pizza should taste like cheesy, saucy and hot. Everything else was just ordinary. Appetizers at the Chalet in Roslyn cost between $7 and $16.

To start off the night, we ordered a round of skinny girl margaritas at the Roslyn Chalet. Everyone was in agreement, the skinny girl margarita was awesome. The skinny girl margarita is one of the most expensive drinks you can order at the Chalet at $14 a glass. Its important to note that it contains Patron Silver and Patron Citron, two top shelf tequilas. This drink is actually listed on the martini menu because it is served in a martini glass. It is far from an actual martini.

Dancing was fun. We danced to DJ music on the second floor with a fully stocked bar. The crowd seemed to be mixed ages and it appeared to be a big date place, not so much a singles place. Maybe it was just the night we were there (it was a Friday night). The DJ shut down about 2:00AM which was before we were ready so my guess is if you are looking for a night of dancing till 4:00AM, you are not going to find it here. We actually left and went some place else after that happened.
