The first single off In And Out Of Love is the Ryan Leslie-produced I Love You. The track features rappers Jim Jones and Yung Joc. The song is definitely the best track on the album. The song features a simplistic but incredibly catchy beat, a simple melody and a very catchy chorus. Jim Jones and Yung Joc both deliver very solid verses however the standout element of the song is definitely the bridge.
The second single is Portrait Of Love featuring Yung Joc and Gorilla Zoe. The song is catchy however not as catchy as the first single. Once again the rappers in this case Yung Joc and Gorilla Zoe deliver solid verses. The song sounds as if it was made for Keyshia Cole but Cheri does a good job making it her own.
The third single is Remind You. The song is not one of the strongest tracks on the album. The track features hard drum hits throughout the song. The song, however, just is not catchy.
Dropping Out Of Love samples the Notorious B.I.G.'s classic Sky's The Limit featuring 112. The song is incredibly catchy just from the very familiar production. The Cheri Dennis elements on the track are well put together although they are not as well done as the original.
Pretend is one of the more rap influenced tracks on the album. The song features syncopated tom and hi hat hits which draw their inspiration from rap tracks. The song is fairly solid however.
Spaced Out sounds exactly as you would expect the title to sound. The song features several sound effects which lead to an outer space feeling sound. The song however is not very memorable.
Waiting sounds like Bad Boy records from the mid to late 1990's. The track is definitely reminiscent of early Faith Evans records. This is a very good thing. The track is one of the stronger efforts on the album.
Finally Made It (Interlude) is also one of the strongest tracks on the album. The track has such a classically jazz inspired inspiration. The beat is one of the better beats in recent memory. The instrumentation adds so much to this interlude.
Overall, In And Out Of Love is a fairly solid debut album. Cheri Dennis delivers on this full-length release. In And Out Of Love gets 7.5 out of 10 stars. If you are a fan of Cheri Dennis, make sure you pick up her album In And Out Of Love when it is available in stores on February 26.
