Review: Chocheng at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2010

Chocheng displayed his fashions at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on September 17, 2009. For his spring 2010 collection, minimal color is used, with white used in semi-formal garments, to black forming classic floor length evening dresses. Innovative is the word here to describe Chochengs's fashions, as these are bold designs for women who are not afraid to make a major fashion statement. Satin is used here in many garments, along with tulle, formed to create a major Renaissance style skirt, the kind that requires an over-sized hoop. Satin is even used to make a midriff top with short sleeves, and a pair of shorts. That is daring, and while the style might seem casual, it is the fabric that make it just formal enough to wear to a poolside at the local country club.

My favorite is the floor length turquoise dress that has a white ribbon on the front, set crosswise with a bow to resemble a Christmas present. Behind the dress is a flowing white skirt that acts like a train. This is the only bright color that stands out in the spring 2010 collection, and in a way this is good, since it was obviously designed to attract buyers who would otherwise just see a sea of black and white garments. Trains are usually associated with wedding dresses, and Chocheng includes a few dressed in that style, colored white, of course. These are great for the lady getting married next spring who like the traditional white color but a gown in an innovative style. Chocheng knows how to present clothes like this tastefully, so that clients are attracted. It may be hard to find a dress like the one with the bow and ribbon on it to wear for this fall season, but it is recommended to find a pale tan or beige satin dress, or blouse and matching skirt, to wear for the fall evenings while out at the nightclubs on the weekends.

Accessories here are minimal, but they can be added to the dresses. Either silk or satin is recommended, such as a satin floral multicolored blouse. That is the ideal thing to wear here. Add bold gold jewelry in the form of hoop earrings and big link necklaces. For the evenings, wear real gems or rhinestones with the black or white gowns. I like emerald and sapphire stones for wearing with these dresses.

Chocheng fashions can be purchased through his boutique in New York City and Los Angeles. Prices are high range from $500.00 to $1,000.00.
