Review of Chuck Versus the Fake Name: Episode 8

Beginning and the Sarah/Shaw dynamic

Yes, finally. After the break because of the Winter Olympics Chuck is back! Chuck always seems to be unfortunate with random breaks, but somehow it always manages to come back strong after them. Tonight was no different. It did have me scared at first starting off slow, and a little strange all the characters were a little off in the beginning. Sarah really seemed off her acting game. There was a part in the beginning where Shaw, and Sarah were having dinner on a mission. They were discussing their relationship, and the acting was really off. That leads to a bigger issue. Shaw and Sarah just don't mix. I know Chuck and Sarah will end up being together, which is how it should be. But Shaw still has a good amount of episodes left, and it's hard to watch when Sarah, and him have scenes alone together. That was the only issue with this episode for me. They had a bunch of scenes this episode, and I am not entirely sure what the emotions/feelings going behind Sarah are. She did something that surprised me in telling Shaw her real name. It confuses me, and makes me wonder if that is her real name. She was supposedly in love with Chuck, but yet over two years she couldn't tell him her name, but now all the sudden she tells Shaw?

There has to be some intent behind that. Is it that she realized Chuck slept with Hannah, and she is going on pure rage and jealously? That is what I think. Because I don't think she is in love with Shaw. I know the message boards are going crazy with this Sarah and Shaw stuff. I wouldn't get too worked about it though. He is only in a limited amount of episodes, and you know Chuck and Sarah will be together again. As you have seen Chuck realized already this episode that he still loves Sarah. Which was obvious even in the last episode. He broke Hannah's heart in the process, but that seems to be Chuck's thing now. Whether it's Hannah, Morgan, or his sister. Chuck has been turning into something he's not. You knew that wouldn't last long, though. And it's not going to. As he realized what he had been doing this episode. I suspect a lot of change back to the old Chuck in the coming episodes.

Humor Highlights

As always Chuck is full of humor. The humor in this episode came from the two wanna be mobsters. One of which played beautifully by Tony Sirico who is no stranger to that type of role. He was on The Sopranos after all. He played a mobster who cared. Helping chuck with his feelings for Sarah. The scene in the hotel room with the sniper was just great. We didn't see much of Jeffster, or Morgan. So that was a little of a let down. But I believe Morgan comes back in a big way next episode, Chuck versus the beard. I believe spoiler alert that Morgan finds out about Chucks secret as the preview hinted.

Overall

Overall it wasn't a great episode. But it was good. I have a feeling it was just playing prelude to next weeks episode which has the potential to be great. i have come out of this with two things. One that I'm thankful Chuck realizes his feelings for Sarah, and hopefully doesn't fight them as much. Two that Sarah, and Shaw better end as a couple soon cause it's just uncomfortable.

I give it seven out of ten flashes.

I am just a guy who enjoys writing, baseball, and comedy. I have a lot of opinions, and about 75% of them are stupid. My hope is that they are so stupid they end up being funny. It's no fun just being plain...  View profile
