It's a cofortable, casual atmosphere. The restaurant itself is a converted old house, with wooden floors and a very Irish feel. There are a ton of regulars. People stopping by after work, those who I have a sneaking suspicion may set up cots there at night, and families who make the place a regular stop. The restaurant is family owned, and so the staff is pretty much constant. They are family or friends of the family, and they know the place and its people like the back of their hand.
The service, even on packed nights (of which there are relatively many) is very good. It's pretty obvouis they are a little short on servers some nights, but those who are working fly around the place surprisingly quickly. Also there is a huge outdoor deck and patio area. On the side is a tent, which connects to an L shaped deck that wraps around the side and back of the restaurant, overlooking not-so-scenic Manchester Road. But, then again, who's there for the scenery?
The food served at Clancy's could be described as typical for a bar & grill. They have a wide selection of burgers and fries, some classic Irish style food (Fish and chips, anyone?) and some excellent sandwiches from French dip to Chicken. Also included are a few mysterious oddities, such as the not-so-staple quesadilla. And if you're looking to dine on a budget, they run a dollar burger night special on Monday and Thursday nights. But if you're looking for a thick, juicy burger, stick to the classic.
So, whether you are looking to dine somewhere new and interesting, trying to find that classic local pub feel, or eating on a budget, Clancy's just may be the place for you. Cold Anheuser Busch beer is always flowing, the jukebox is always going, and the people are always friendly and welcoming. Clancy's really seem to have that special something to put its guests in a good, full kind of mood.
