Review of Clif Bar Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch Energy Bar

Jamie Brown
I've been looking for an energy bar to give me a boost while also satisfy my rare sweet tooth. I decided to try the Clif Bar Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch bar. Clif Bar's are made from all-natural ingredients including dried apples, rice flour, and rolled oats-it's 70% organic, has no trans fats, and has 23 different vitamins and minerals. I figure if you're going to go healthy, you might as well go all the way. Here is my review of the Clif Bar Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch protein bar.

Looks

I have to be honest. The Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch Clif Bar looks like someone threw up, froze it, and cut it into squares. It doesn't look like a chocolate chip cookie or granola bar as I first suspected whatsoever. You can see the chocolate chips here and there, but the rest of it looks pretty disgusting-like a plastic throw up toy. When I first took a look at the bar after opening the package, I scrunched up my nose and almost threw it in the trash. But as the saying goes, you just can't judge a book by its cover...

Taste

When I finally brought myself to take a bite of this peculiar looking Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch Clif Bar I was very pleasantly surprised. Compared to the other energy bars I've tried, it actually tastes pretty good. It's chewy and fresh with a "grainy" yet chocolate chip cookie-like flavor. I quickly got over the way it looks and enjoyed the rest of the bar while going about my normal tasks.

Energetic?

The main reason why I purchased an energy bar in the first place was because I wanted to get some quick natural energy. I don't know if it's some type of placebo effect, but I guess the Clif Bar kept me motivated to complete my tasks for the next few hours. I'm not going to give you the impression that this bar is some kind of miracle energy booster-but taking in the healthy ingredients alone is a good way to appease your appetite and recharge yourself.

One Downside

Despite the delicious taste and wholesome ingredients, there's one downside to the Clif Bar Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch bar. It has a boatload of sugar in it-21 grams to be exact.

There are other varieties besides the Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch type, including Chocolate Brownie, regular Chocolate Chip, Black Cherry Almond, Maple Nut and Crunchy Peanut Butter. Overall, I would give the Clif Bar Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch variety a rating of three out of five stars when it comes to all of its attributes. But when I compare Clif Bars to the other energy bars I've had the displeasure of eating, I'd give it a solid 4.5.
