Review of Clinique High Impact Lip Colour

Clinique's Newest Lipstick Formula

Marie Westgate
Long lasting and comfortable wear in a lipstick? That is what Clinique claimed, so I gave it a try. Their new High Impact Lip Colour SPF 15 actually pleasantly surprised me, probably the toughest of lipstick critics. I despise lipstick that dries my lips out, and that is what most of them do. Because of this, I tend to shy away from them, especially the ones that claim to be long lasting. Wearing those is like a death wish for my lips.

Clinique's new lipstick comes in a chic looking silver casing. There are about twenty different shades to choose from. All of them are high color (hence the name, high impact) so if you are looking for a sheer, barely there lipstick, this will not be right for you. I purchased the color called "Go Fig" because I was looking for something of a neutral tone, with a bit more of a color pop. This definitely did the trick. My other favorites were Pure Posh and After Party. This lipstick actually does stand the test of time. Eight hours with no reapplication is a bit of a stretch, especially if you are eating or drinking. One quick touchup is all it took for me to look fresh again though. The sun protection this product provides is worth the price by itself. With all the concerns about skin cancer, why wouldn't you protect some of the most delicate skin on your face? The best point about this lipstick is that it is actually comfortable, and stays that way all day. It didn't dry my lips out and kept them looking smooth and nice looking all day. No feathering here!

It looks good with or without a liner, and with or without gloss on top. I am a gloss girl; I like the sheen. For some reason matte scares me.

The price of a tube of this lipstick actually won't break the bank. I know I am on a tight budget just like probably everyone else, but no guilt here: only $14.00. Overall, I was very satisfied with this purchase, and I am sure you will be as well!
