Mongoose is a reputed and reliable brand-name in the market for bikes. They offer a wide range of bikes to suit everyone from the novice to the professional. Their pavement and mountain product line-up is extensive with bikes right for every biker and budget. The 2009 Mongoose Sabrosa 3X8 Mountain Bike from this line up is priced at $650 and is an excellent low-maintenance commuter bike.

A quick review of the 2009 Mongoose Sabrosa 3X8 will tell you that it has a lightweight aluminum frame that makes your ride very pleasant. The bike is easy to maneuver in different terrains and has good shock absorption capabilities. It also has good all-weather stopping power with its mechanical disc brakes that respond at almost lightning speed. The fork is made of rigid alloy with forged crown and dropouts. The ergonomic bar is very comfortable even on long rides. It has an efficient geometry and wheels have alloy disc hubs, double wall disc rims and nice sturdy tires that provide decent grip.

The 2009 Mongoose Sabrosa 3X8 also includes an insulated stainless steel thermos and comes in a dark silver color giving it a sleek and smart feel. It is a great bike for regular commuting, casual biking, exercising and training.

After mostly using a Wal-Mart or K-Mart bike for many years, it was an upscale experience for me to upgrade to the 2009 Mongoose Sabrosa 3X8. The first time I test drove the bike, I could see that it was distinctly a cut above its counterparts. I get about 25 mph on a flat terrain and easily hit 35 mph downhill with the bike. And it gives a smooth and worry free ride to my work place which is about 5 miles from home. I also use it for a good workout. I have never had a fall from this bike even on rugged stony terrains because it is easy to control and brake.

The only downside to having the 2009 Mongoose Sabrosa is that it does not come with mudguards. So you need to buy and fit this accessory onto the bike. I also found the initial assembly a little tedious although the instructions are easy to follow.

On the whole I think it is bike worth having for its performance and convenience although it is bit pricey. Amazon stocks some of Mongoose bikes. Many specialty stores like Bicycle Bananas and Harbor County Bike also ship them.
