The spa mat offers different bubble controls low, medium and high with cordless remote for easy operation. The remote works by pointing the control at the top of the motor. The remote runs on batteries. It comes with a SPT-2 cord to prevent accidental electrical shocking. The mat has multiple suction cups to hold it in place. But I've found that the suction cups don't stick as well if your tub has any non skid on the bottom. It is possible to use it, but takes a little work positioning things right.
A couple of the drawbacks of the spa mat are the heated bubbles, hard plastic mat and the foot rollers. I have found that the heated bubbles are not that great. I can get in the tub and about 10 minutes later the water is cold. I've timed the difference between using the mat and not using the mat. The length of time the water stays warm is the same. I found that the width of the mat needs to be wider to accommodate the average person. The foot rollers were more annoying to me, then helpful. They are easy to snap off to put aside, if you don't like them. The average person would not be able to keep there feet on them and lay back in the tub.
The positives of the spa mat do out weight the negatives. The different bubble settings do make it so you can choice your speed settings. This particular spa is a lot better, then there older versions of the spa mat. The previous versions had a plastic mat with suctions cups and in time the suction cups would tear off the plastic mat. So you were stuck with a floating raft, rather then a great spa experience. The mat has an adjustable neck massager that runs on batteries, which is great to get a good neck massage. It has an off and on switch and the neck massager pulls up and down for easy adjustment.
The motor on the spa works like a vacuum cleaner in many ways. You plug in the hose to the mat at the bottom and connect to the front of the motor. The connection into the mat has a locking part so the hose doesn't come unhooked from the mat. The remote is attached to a small string that pulls out for easy use and has an automatic return. The cord on the remote makes it so you don't lose the remote. There is not an on/off button on the motor, so if you lose the control your out of luck.
The spa is easy to take apart for storage. You have to drain the tub completely, and then run the motor for a few minutes to drain any excess water. I usually lay it on its side to make sure all the water is out. Then, you disconnect the hose from the spa mat and the motor. Hang up the hose on the side of the shower curtain rod. I usually leave the spa mat on its side to dry. You can fold it up for storage in the box, or under the sink or on the side of the tub, if you have a garden tub.
All in All I think this product has a lot to offer the average consumer. It comes with a one year limited warranty and a great price at 120.00 at the Conair online store. At the local retailer in my area it was under $100.00.
