The Course
The course is laid out as a par 71 with a slope rating of 121. The slope is significant on several holes so be prepared for an exhausting hike if deciding to walk the course. I would not recommend going without a driving cart when playing in hot temperatures due to the numerous peaks and valleys. As this course is only a nine hole course, the back nine unfortunately can run the risk of delays at the turn since other golfers may be just starting out their round. My last trip to Country Club Estates was without delay as the course was not very busy as there was no waiting on hole number 10 (or first hole). As this is a nine hole course, it is a relief that these fairways are not packed too tight together compared to numerous other nine hole courses I have played.
For the occasional slicer, there is a tad room for error. The nine holes play only 2838 yards from the whites which is pretty short and kind to those that cannot hit the big clubs. The blue tees play at a total distance of 3011 yards. Water hazards are not too significant until the last two holes. The eighth hole is very interesting as the out of bounds zone comes into play dead center between the tee box and the hole thus forcing the player to follow the tight dog leg around the bend. The big bopper golfer that can consistently hit the ball 260 plus yards could probably gamble this tee shot and try to cheat the dog leg. Water comes into play again on hole number nine with water just to the left off the tee box. The hazard is very easy to carry and should not play into the line of the tee shot if one plays the hold correctly.
The Price
For a Geneva lake area course, the greens fees are ridiculously cheap. A round of eighteen with cart runs a mere $35.00. Playing only nine holes with a cart will set one back about $29.00. Greens fees come much lower if one decides to walk the course or play during the weekdays.
Overall Opinion
At the time of this review, I have just completed a decent round of golf at Country Club estates and can safely say the course is in great shape. Fairways are very green and tee boxes and greens are all in decent condition. It is by reasons of the low price and happy memories that I return to this course every season. I do caution those that have not played this course that there are several blind spots in some of the fairways where it is very difficult to see the hole. It might make sense to play this one with another course veteran that can point out pin location.
