Review: Cover Girl Boundless Color Nail Polish in "Bronze Beauty"

The Pen
I rarely purchase Cover Girl products, but a few weeks ago I was shopping for food at a Jewel-Osco and when I walked through the beauty aisle, I noticed that all of Cover Girl's products were on sale. I needed a new nail polish so I checked out all of the colors and decided on the Bronze Beauty Shade because I thought it was unique.

I snagged a bottle for $1.99, but it's regularly priced at $3.99.

Ingredients in
Cover Girl Boundless Color Bronze Beauty Nail Polish

Usually companies list at least some of the ingredients found in their nail polishes, but Cover Girl isn't one of those companies, so I'm not sure if it contains ingredients like formaldehyde or DBP.

Color of
Cover Girl Boundless Color Bronze Beauty Nail Polish

I'm not sure why this was named Bronze Beauty because this shade really doesn't look bronze at all. Even in the bottle, to me, it looks like a pewter with warm tones, it reminds me of the color of an old nickel, so I guess it's like oxidized bronze.

After applying one coat, I noticed that the color of the polish itself seems fairly transparent, and that the opaque pewter color comes from a mixture of fine metallic shimmer that's the color of copper, silver, gold, and charcoal gray.

Against my caramel skin tone, one coat looks very faint and innocent, in certain lighting it looks like a silvery champagne color. With two coats the color intensifies a lot and it looks more like it does in the bottle. I'd describe it as a granite color or an icy olive green.

I don't think it's the best color to wear in the summer (even though I have been) because it's a bit drab and it's better for fall, but I really love Bronze Beauty. The color looks awesome on my skin, because of the warmth of the copper and golden shimmer, and it reflects the light so it makes my fingers glow.

Texture of
Cover Girl Boundless Color Bronze Beauty Nail Polish

I was very pleased with how Boundless Color went on, it wasn't too thick or sticky, but it also wasn't thin and runny, so it went on neatly and dried quickly.

I've tried other metallic polishes in the past that have big flakes of glitter in it, so it's usually hard to apply an even coat. Or it clumps when it's applied and looks bumpy once it dries. But Bronze Beauty contains fine shimmer, so the polish went on smoothly, and it felt smooth and silky once my nails dried.

The polish also lasts for days without chipping, and it retained it's shine for the week and half that I kept it on.

In the End...

I don't think this shade will appeal to everyone, because it's stark and edgy (I'm sure Rihanna would wear it) but I like the blend of cool gray, and warm copper tones and I will be rocking it this fall and winter. It's a cool color and the quality of Cover Girl's polish is excellent. I give Bronze Beauty 4.5 out of 5 stars.
