Color:
I haven't always been a big fan when it comes to Covergirl because it seems to me like they have some off colors. Maybe I was just having bad luck the times I tried to find a good base color because I finally found one.
Ultimate Finish comes in lot of colors that all look very natural. It doesn't appear that you are wearing some orangey caked on makeup blob. So I was very impressed in this area.
This is a matte finish so you don't have to worry about a dewy or glossy look when you're done.
Formula Texture:
This is where the interesting part comes in. Though this finish is a cream, it has the feeling of powder after you apply it to your skin and blend it in. I love the final touch because the skin feels beyond smooth and healthy. Since this is also used as a base, it absorbs oils that protrude from your skin throughout the day and helps your other makeup stay put.
If you have dry skin, I don't recommend this product for you. Though it is very creamy in the casing, it turns to that powder texture and will amplify dry skin on your face, thus giving you a caked up appearance.
Application:
Application life is approx. eight hours before it starts to fade away. I enjoyed this finish because it doesn't crease or cake up around fine lines. If you are big on eye shadow looks and need a base, I would suggest this product because it works perfectly. As a makeup artist, play around with a lot of eye shadow looks and use this as a base.
The product comes with an applicator sponge and I like it because I can dab a little product in one area and use the sponge to smear it out a little and pat down. Touch ups are easy to complete throughout the day if needed because you can use your ring finger if need be. The casing also comes with a very large personal mirror for application.
Coverage:
Last but certainly not least - coverage. I will start off my saying that I don't apply a concealer when using this product because it gets a little overwhelming and it's not needed. This finish has a medium coverage so I use it as a concealer and primer and apply a very small amount of mineral powder over top. After apply the mineral powder, I use the applicator sponge, damp it, and lightly brush the sponge across my face to pick up access particles and give a photo-finish.
This is not an expensive product (I got mine of r$7.00) and it does the trick. If you need a base or would simply like to use the product alone to even skin tone and help cover blemishes, I say go for it. Make sure you moisturize well before using if you have dry skin!
