Review of Crayola Color Explosion Glow Board

Great Gift for Your Artistic Children

Arthur Kirk
Do you have a child that loves to draw? Well the Crayola Color Explosion Glow Board is a great gift to pick up for them. It lets them make their own drawings in spectacular neon color. There are several ways your child can use the Crayola Color Explosion Glow Board. When it arrived I wasn't sure why there were two different drawing surfaces, and after reading the directions I wasn't sure my nephew would find them useful. Boy was I wrong. See with the two drawing surfaces with the Crayola Color Explosion Glow Board your child can actually make images look like they are moving, which is great for elementary school aged children.

The Crayola Color Explosion Glow Board comes with six different drawing markers. All of these show up on the drawing surface in brilliant neon colors. The colors included are red, yellow, orange, pink, green and blue. What really sets this aside from other drawing toys is the fact that the colors are neon and the drawing surface is black. This allows the colors to really stand out. My nephew loved this gift when he started playing with hit. He started drawing his version of logos of some of his favorite sports teams. They really did stand out with the neon on black surface. Of course when he wanted to draw another picture the ink cleared quickly and he was able to make another drawing. Over time they become slightly harder to clean, but my tip would be to purchase inexpensive baby wipes, they work great. Of course it helps having a baby in the family so we had them at our house already.

Here is what really sets apart the Crayola Color Explosion Blow Board, the two drawing surfaces. You can do several things with these. You could draw two different pictures and "flip" from one drawing to the other. You can also make it appear like your photo is a moving graphic like a digital billboard or a advertisement. My nephew liked writing team names for a football game on one board, and having it shine through the second layer when he turned on the option to show the score he had written on that second layer. He also enjoy writing the names on one and the names and score on the other and switching back and forth making it look like the score was updating like it does on television.

What really allowed him to use his creativity was the ability to draw two similar drawings on the two boards, but just slightly different. Then when he chose the option on the Crayola Color Explosion Glow Board that constantly flips from one drawing board to the other it made his image look like it was moving. My nephew loved the Crayola Color Explosion Glow Board that he received for his birthday so much I'm considering buying them for a few other relatives.

My only concern is it is a little on the expensive side for a child's gift. It routinely retails for close to $30. The cheapest I have found it was online for $24, so there are not a lot of significant sales for this item. Is it worth the money? Probably not, but if you are looking to splurge a little it is a great gift.

  • The Crayola Color Explosion Glow Board is great for the young artist in your family.
  • Only having six colors is a little dissapointing.
  • The neon effect will thrill your young artist.
Don't forget if it becomes difficult to clean, baby wipes work great.
